Hi Moms,
I know my daughter is only 7 months but the months are flying by & soon we will be celebrating her 1st birthday! I am planning on doing a pink/green Ladybug theme...can you share any great ideas???? I am super detailed & want to make or buy creative things. I'm pretty crafty & already brewing some ideas like her outfit. I want to attempt in making her Tutu. Do you know a good tutorial to view since it's my 1st time? I'm so excited to finally be hosting my daughters 1st bday!!! Any good sites would be helpful too. Thanks in advance

What can I do next?

I've done the 'I'llmakeitbecauseit'scheaperthatway" route with a tutu. I've sewn for 38 years so I know what I'm doing. Not hard if you really want to make it. BUT, My neice turned me onto www.haloheaven.com and was stunned to find out how inexpensively I could buy one (CUTE colors!) They were about the same price as the 'raw' fabric... without my sewing time. And they have baby/toddler sizes! I just opened my first box from them yesterday and I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality!

BTW, she and many other crafters buy their items (really inexpensive), put them together, and sell them on eBay and etsy!

Other sites I use are www.allfreesewing.com and www.lovetosew.com. Both sites have free sewing patterns many through blog links, the latter has a 'mission statement' of sorts that wants to encourage sewing by youth and 'newbies'.

Also, www.familyfun.com has some great party ideas. I just checked and I think you'll be pleased. I searched 'lady bug party'. The cutest snack popped up. Lady bugs on a stick!

Happy (future) 1st Birthday to your little one!

a woman my husband works with makes tutu's, she has her own website and sells them. my SIL actually bought a couple of them from her. I can get her information for you, if you would like. maybe you could ask her or check out her site to get some ideas. btw, I love you theme!!! i have all boys so I love to read about what you mom's of girls do for birthdays etc!

here is the link to her FB page.

How about cupcakes or a round cake that are decorated with pink or red frosting and chocolate chips for their spots, along with the sugar googley eyes? You could also use black licorice strings for antennae.

I used this video to make my daughter's tutu. It was very easy and inexpensive and very cute. I wound up making them for some neighbors, because they liked them so much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7aSPMEn7S0

Go to AndersRuff.com and check out their blog and all the cool stuff they do. Then, go to their etsy store, and have them create custom printables for your daughter's birthday. They really do amazing work;)

Have fun!
