My twins are turning 10! They want to have a "Tutu's and Tennis Shoes" themed party. Does anyone have any suggestions on what this looks like? Party decorations, favors, activities, food...

What can I do next?

Are they both girls? Is this a house party?

My dd had her 9th birthday at the house and we had a ton of kids and did lots of "field day" type of activities in the back yard. Lots of relay races, pin the hair on Hannah Montanna, etc. We did a balloon popping .in the house.

We got inexpensive prizes (i.e. a many packages of things like 12 erasers from the dollar store etc.) and wrapped them up individually so everyone got lots of prizes...then had a treasure hunt at the end for all the leftover prizes.

I would see if Claire's still has inexpensive tutu skirts or make some simple ones (or get the girls to do so). I would get really inexpensive canvass sneakers and fabric paint and let them do up their shoes however they want (you'll need guests to RSVP with shoe sizes). They could make paper tutus and paint them. http://www.ehow.com/how_###-###-####_make-tutu-butcher-pa...

I'd ask the kids what streamers and balloons and such they want. I did a dino and butterfly party for my DD and got a lot of things off Amazon. For such a diverse theme, I'd go with solid colors for plates and napkins and plasticware.

Then I'd look for generic fun things to do - like making individual pizzas with the kids for food or doing a relay race or scavenger hunt.

Chances are, if they are turning 10 and thought of this theme, they have an idea of what it should be/what they are expecting. Ask them! I bet they are very excited and planning together could make the party even more fun.

-How about a station where they can have their nails painted (you do it &
they have to sit while they dry (us a fast dry top coat & a hair dryer on
cool.).

-feather boas, mini crowns

-You can even buy nail sitcker w/rhinestones & flowers to put on their
nails.

-You can play music for them to dance to .

-how about mini cupcakes w/pink frosting

-you could secure a huge mirror to the wall then make a bar out of plastic
pipe in front of it for them to "practice" some ballet moves.

-you can skip favors unless you want to do some cute plastic bangles & mini nail polish, sm plastic rings for girls

-for decorations: streamers & balloons in her favorite colors (like pink & purple or something)

-confetti on the table to make it festive

-food: pizza, pigs in a blanket, chips, carrot sticks & ranch, cake pops on a stick, mini choc chip cookies

Some ideas come to mind.

I would do a tutu for the table, put a simple white or other prefered tablecloth and around the border of the table 3 to 4 layers of different colors of tule fabric and if you even want ti more beautiful with ribbon on top.

I found at oriental trading, tutus (they are not that nice but they will do for the price) and tenis key chains, that can be your party favors, you can give the girls their tutu when they arrive and make sure they bring their own sneakers.

Also at the table I found at etsy cookies with shape of tennis shoes, they are very cute but it can start to get pricey ;)

I would have glittery "make up" for them to play dress up and then maybe crank the music up so they can dance and be silly!

They could also do their own tutu design if you buy tule fabric and ribbons in different colors and see who gets the nicest tutu.

At oriental trading you will find tons of things they will love, or any party store, just OT usually works fine for me in terms of prices, also party city.

If you set up a table with candies, you can decorate some of the cups or jugs with tutus. And don't forget matching balloons!

Here are some links of the things I mentioned.
Good luck with your party!
