Anyone done this?

We don't have many kids in our immediate neighborhood, but my kids have great friends from school. I'd love your ideas and suggestion on how to get a "summer playgroup" together?

Many of us are SAHMs and will intermittentantly have our kids in day camp programs.

I'm thinking it might be best to pick a day of the week and morning/afternoons to get togehter weekly. Plus ask everyone to "pick a week" so they can plan an outing they'd like for that particular day. EXAMPLE: Fridays at 10am

What do you think? Any ideas?

What can I do next?

Mornings are best. Just know that not everyone can come every week. Make sure you tell moms to bring snacks and drinks for their own kids. Also, every M. should say and supervise their own kids. At houses won't work because fighting over toys.
My friend organized one and stated "I am not offering to babysit. You must stay." Several moms would have dumped their kids off for free babysitting and maybe come back on time.

A few summers ago I was involved in a summer playgroup "Park Tour". Each week a different park in the area or neighboring areas. The host of the week would bring one thing for the group either a snack, drink, chalk, bubbles, balls etc. It worked out well.

Good luck!

I created a playgroup using meetup.com a little over a year ago. You can control the privacy settings and set up playdates. It is great because you can find other moms that are like-minded and work together to set up an events calendar. PM me if you'd like more information on setting one up.

We did two summer's ago. Another mom started it and then the rest of us filled in to plan it if she was unavailable or out of ideas. We met once a week in the morning at different parks, summer concerts, and the splash park. It was fun. Sometimes we would stay for lunch, sometimes not. I never assumed anyone else would be watching my kids. I think if you are "meeting" somewhere it leaves less room for that misunderstanding, but make sure you are clear about it. We just sent out emails and whoever could go that week did. It's fun for the kids and the moms too.

Hi!
Were you ever able to get a group together? I am originally from Barrington and we are moving back after being gone for about 7 years. I would love to get my kids involved in a playgroup!
