I am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions what to use for cradle cap? I have 3 other boys and they all had it alittle but my newborn now has it really bad all down to his eyes, on his forehead and it just keeps peeling. I put baby oil that's what I used in the past but doesn't seem to work as well for his.

What can I do next?

H., we battled this with both of our children. OIt can take some persistence - you can try baby oil, Gentle Naturals makes a cradle cap formula (you can buy at Publix and many other stores) and a soft toothbrush or a fine comb, if he'll let you. You can also use T-Gel and Head and Shoulders (or any brand of dandruff shampoo. Those will also help with the areas on his skin. Good luck and patience. K.

try bathing him in bottled water, honestly, the water here SUCKS!!!! and use the lavender/peppermint-ish baby wash and gently rub his head and face with a washcloth. Make sure you fully dry the area EVERYTIME before putting on hats or going to sleep.

My oldest had it as anolder baby, I went CRAZY! It was only the top of the head, but when she was sleepy, i took about a peasized amount of dandruff shampoo and massaged her head, with it and warm water. I made sure she wasnt restless or jumpy, I then rinsed it off, pouring towards the back of course, and lightly dryed her hair with a towel. It was gone after like the third time, i did it every OTHER day. Never had to do it again!

My son had it I tried lots of things, but didn't want to go w/chemicals. I eventually started taking him to a chiro and after 3 adjustments it was gone. It also helped in other areas.

Hi H.-
My stepson gets really bad scaly scalp and I found a great product by accident on the web......it works awesome. It's a shampoo/body wash from californiababy.com.......it's all natural......I personally use the tea tree oil/lavander scent. It's not too bad in price, so worth it. Check it out! -J.

Both of the responses already is what i suggest too! My girl is 3 and still has it occasionally. To get rid of a bad case of it, i poured Baby oil on her head and let her play (with an old t shirt on so it doesnt get ruined) for about 15 minutes, then put her in the bath. Then rub your fingertips on their head to loosed up the scales. I got a Cradles Cap Brush from CVS, it is round and has bristles on it, that will loosed it up too.
I have also used Peppermint oil (health food stores). I pour Baby shampoo in a cup, than add a drop or two of the oil. It really really stinks, so open windows and shut the bathroom door while you do this.

For preventive, once a week i used Head & Shoulders. Hope it helps!
