My doctor actually said we could just use a couple of drops of head and shoulders. It worked in 2 weeks and didn't smell. good Luck!
I used Gentle Naturals Cradle cap treatment for my two month old's hair but now there is a very strong smell from the medication in the treatment that will not go away. Do you have any advice about what I can wash his hair with that would be strong enough to remove the smell but gentle enough for a newborn? I used the treatment yesterday and have washed my son's head 3 times with shampoo today. The smell is so strong that it gives me and his dad a headache. I can't imagine what it is doing to my baby. I will never use this treatment again. I think his crade cap wasn't that bad and will probably go away with time. I have used this treatment once before but I guess I used too much this time.
So I followed Keri's advice of using a little baking soda. I put the baking soda in a bowl of water and then used a wash cloth to apply it to my baby's head. Worked perfectly! I'm so thankful the smell is gone. I wasn't worried about the baking soda being too strong for his head because I diluted it in water instead of applying it directly to his head. Thank you for all of your helpful suggestions!

Hi H.. So sorry your baby is suffering from cradle cap...no fun! I highly recommend trying Arbonne's Baby Care Hair and Body Wash. Not only should it help remove that smell, but it will also eliminate cradle cap! I'd be more than happy to give you a sample of these products to see if it works for you. Just let me know. You can learn more about Arbonne's Baby Care products at: www.mandyolsen.myarbonne.com or www.arbonne.com. Good luck!

Well...strictly for odor removal purposes, baking soda is a natural odor absorber so I wonder if you could wash his hair with a little bit of that (preferably the non-aluminum kind). I can't say with 100% confidence that it is safe for an infant, but I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be.
Good luck!
We had a cradle cap issue when my son was younger and our pedi recommended Selsun Blue. I would not use it if your baby seems to have particularly sensitive skin, but it is fine for most babies. Obviously keep it well away from the eyes. Give his head a little scrub with a rough wash cloth and the shampoo, and let it sit for a minute or so before rinsing. Our problem was gone in about a week.

I used Gentle Naturals for ezema and it also has a bad ordor to it.
I used baby oil w/a newborn baby brush and rubbed gently and it really helped w/the cradle cap.
Good Luck

My ped doc told me to use Selson Blue...the dandruff shampoo. It worked, and I only had to use it twice.
Try Olive Oil. Just gently rub it into his scalp, let it sit for maybe five minutes, then wash it out with baby shampoo. That is also the natural treatment for cradle cap. Just add a gentle brushing after the oil has loosened the scaly skin. The brush should help remove the flakes/scales, but just be really gentle when doing this. Some babies get it in their eyebrows and ears, too. I would not recommend the OO in the ears, though.
Hope that helps!
I used Head and Shoulders for cradle cap and it worked wonderfully. Of course you have to make sure that you do not get it in their little eyes. I only had to use it once or twice and the cradle cap was gone. The smell is much better.
I had the same problem...that and it was hard to wash out the residue. After the treatment I used Suave Shampoo in a fruit smell and that helped get out the residue and the smell. You have to be careful not to get it in their eyes.
Reg baby shampoo is so soft it wont remove the treatment and will get stuck with all that residue.
Hi H.
call the manufactor and see if they can give you any ideas as far as the cradle cap if you will put baby oil a drop in you hand and gently rub it on the babies head and take a baby brush and gently in a circular motion brush over the cradle cap it will help loosen it and then you can wash it away, after a while cradle cap if not treated can start to smell depending how bad it is.
