Could a Home Pregnancy Test Be Wrong?

I have had 2 miscarriages within the last 8 months so now I am taking progesterone after I ovulate. I suspect I am pregnant because I have symptoms, but I don't know for sure since they are the same side affects progesterone can give. As well as PMS :0

I have taken 3 ept's and 2 first response tests hoping I would get early detection with the first two. So I waited until my missed period day and I'm still getting negatives. All of them are negative but I'm now four days late!! I want to stop taking progesterone so I can focus on my next ovulation dates if I'm not pregnant, but can't stop taking it if there's some possibility I am. Have any of you experienced negative tests at home, and if so for how long?? I suppose I'll wait it out to see if I start bleeding, or just go to the doctor, but I'm wondering if this happens alot to other women.

What can I do next?

How sure are you of your ovulation date? If you're not 100% I suspect you just had a long cycle and ovulated late. If you have no period 18 days after o, test again.

It depends on the sensitivity of the test and how much hormones are in your urine. My home pregnancy test was negative the first 3 times and finally positive the 4th test 8 days after missing my period. If you think your pregnant, trust your gut feeling and see your doctor. If neccessary they can do a blood test.

The tests can show negative up until 1 week after the first day of your missed period. I was actually just reading about this. So keep trying and stay on the medicine until your period has started and you're absolutely sure you're not pregnant.

Also, progesterone is what peeks in a woman's body during the first trimester and what causes all the wonderful side effects. Because you're taking it, very likely the symptoms you're having could be side effects from the meds and also good old PMS working its magic. This is more of an FYI for you though. Because you've passed your periods start date, you could also definitely be pregnant. I just wanted to let you know about progesterone.

I'll be thinking of you! Good luck!

Hi Holly,
I have been told that pregnancy tests never give a false positive, I've never heard of a false negative. My doctor told me that sometimes the hcg levels are very light at first on some people. I would just go to your doctor and get a test done there, just to be sure.
Good Luck,
K. :~)
