we have the same problem right now--I've got it too, along with 2 toddlers all at the same time! a spoonful of Honey has really made a difference! And humidifier in the room for naps and night time.
Hi everyone my daughter who is 2 has a very bad cough and soar throat. We have given her ibueprofen to ease the pain but since she is a little young i dont know if i can still give her other medicines for cough and sore throat that are out there. If anyone knows of a good remedy to relieve the cough and the sore throat please help me, first time mom and could use the help. Thanks!!
Thank you everyone for the help i tried all and took my little one to the dr and they prescribed antibiotics because she had an ear infection. But the good news is that she is all better now and now the downside is that i have the cough and sore throat but i rather it be me than my little one, again thanks to you all!!!!

You can't give her anything other then advil or tylenol. We just checked on that with our Ped recently too.
Depending on how long it is lasting-more then 2-3 days you should take her in-esp if she is running a fever.
In the mean time, try spoonfuls of honey to coat her throat and calm her cough-a vaporizer in her room, (i think warm mist works best), baby vaporub on her chest and give her things like popsicles, suckers, and cold juice/water to keep her throat moist. Sometimes going in the b-room, shutting the door, turning on the shower and filling the room with humidty and sitting in there for 20 minutes will help the cough too.
If she'll drink warm liquids go for honey w/ tea -or lemon.
Try Hyland's brand cold medicine in the kids' medicine section at Walmart. Their products are all-natural (the cough meds use honey as the main ingredient). I've been using them for the past year since I was told about them by another mom, they work great! And the best part is it's not a struggle to get my younger daughter to take her medicine b/c it tastes good =)
My daughter was the same last year. Same thing cough, sore throat and a fever. A pharmacist recommended BORON. It's a cough medicine, completely natural with no side-effects. I know what it's like to have a sick child and feel so helpless because there are no medications available for their age group. Btw.. this is for kids 2yrs old and up. Hope she feels better :)
I went to Target to shop for medicines for my daughter and saw a honey elixir for cough and it was for children 2 and up. You can read the label and see if it could be something you want to try. for fever you can only give her tylenol as someone else mentioned, they have a generic brand right now I think due to a recall. I have the infants tylenol and it still says tylenol in the box.
Hoping your little one recovers soon,
I've also heard that applying vick's vapor rub to feet before bed and then covering with loose socks helps with a cough. My Dad told me it works great for him. My 16 year old just tried it this week and said it didn't work for her....I haven't needed to try it yet.......
A teaspoon of honey mixed with lemon is a natural cough suppressant. The honey coats the throat, too, providing much-needed relief from pain. It doesn't taste awful, so your little one will take it without a fight, and you don't have to worry about over-medicating since there are no drugs involved.
its going around my 2 yr old has it and has given it to me. over the counters are fine warm salt water for sore throat and a humidifier for the cough but I believe in meds. why suffer
Is she running fever? Have you taken her to the pediatrician?
And don't forget lots and lots of water.
Strep is going around. Has she been to the doctor? My daughter has had it twice in the last two months- and never ran a fever either time.
