Use a bulb syringe and rise her nose out with saline. She'll hate it, but she'll breathe easier through her nose for awhile afterward. The Vick's on the feet thing never worked for us. I rub it on neck under chin and chest (and I still use it myself when I'm sick). Humidifier in her room at night helps, too. Warm bathes/showers will steam up her sinuses and help with congestion and keep her fluids up.

NO MEDICINE! She's too little.
If she has a fever, Tylenol.

Use saline, Boogie Wipes, run a cool mist humidifier in her room at naps & night, extra cuddles, extra liquids, prop up the head of her crib on phone books to ease congestion.

Really, comfort things are all you can do at that age. If her cold lasts longer than 10 days, take her to the pediatrician--it could then be a sinus or ear infection. (Some kids don't get a lot of pain with ear infections--but fever will indicate an infection.)
Hope she's better soon.

NO OTC medications or prescribed medicatins are given to children until the age 6 they do no good, cause severe adverse reactions including death in many children they are not meant to get rid of a cold you can only do that by TLC,warm baths, use a humidifier, suck the boogies out with a bulb syringe, you can also use nasal saline to help with the stuffiness as directed, soup, you can give Tylenol to take the fever down if any or for earaches or sore throats,"lightly" to much will burn rub Vicks or Mentholateum on chest and back or rub on feet then put socks on her & let it run it's course.Other than that a cold is miserable but there isn't any medication that will get rid of it,it''ll run it's course maybe upto 2 weeks in the mean time if syptoms change high fever chills earache call the pediatrician she may have an ear infection.

Our 20-month old has the same thing right now (big brother brought the cold home the 1st week of kindergarten), and in addition to the Tylenol, humidifier, bulbing the nose, etc., try not to give any dairy while she's sick because dairy creates mucus. It's helping our daughter some.

I would say zyrtec you can give it to kids two years and older. Get the Johnson and Johnson bedtime bath it has some calming stuff in it which may help out her cold. Give her a hot bath or shower which will help with the congestion. Also run a cool mist humidifier in her room and do saline spray. If you are worried about the meds call the pediatricans office.

you might also want to prop the head of the bed up by putting blankets under the mattress in addition to the other home remedies suggested.

Please call your pediatrician.

There's unless she's running a fever or is achy, there's no reason for tylenol/ibuprofen.

Zyrtec is an antihistamine and should be used for allergy related items.

Colds are viruses and have to run their course, as hard as that is. Cough and cold medications are not recommended by the FDA for children under the age of 6 because of issues with overdosage recently.

You can get Cough/Cold medications by prescription so it may be worth a call to your pediatrician to see what they advise or search for "cough" or "cold" at HealthyChildren.org (the parenting website for the American Academy of Pediatrics)

You can talk with a medical professional about medicines, but in the meantime I find a cool mist humidifier and nasal saline work well with my kids. Hope she's feeling better soon.
