I googled "cooking with brown rice syrup" and many links popped up. Give it a try. Good Luck!
My daughter has a sugar allergy or intolerance. The only sugar we can use is brown rice syrup. I found a gluten free oatmeal cookie recipe online. I wanted to try and substitute the sugar for brown rice syrup. Has anyone tried cooking with brown rice syrup?
Any sugar free ideas welcome.
We can't use Honey yet. I tried the oatmeal cookies and she ate them but they were a little dry and crumbly. I want to try brown rice cereal treats next.

Are you able to cook with honey? We're following the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info) due to my daughter's health issues. The only sweetener I can use is honey. She has an anaphylactic allergy to peanuts and tree nuts too, so I have had to learn to adapt to coconut flour as our option for cooking baked goods that require flour. If you can use honey, I can give you some recipes.
My daughter can't have sugar either - nothing that comes from sugarcane, so no white sugar, brown sugar, or even molasses. When I use honey instead of sugar in a recipe, I decrease the other liquids slightly or increase the flour by just a little bit. Other time I will use granulated fructose which she seems to tolerate well, and in that case I just substitute the exact amount for the sugar.
Are you able to use honey? We grew up using only non sugar recipes,so I actually have a recipe box full of them! Let me know if you want some ideas and I can email anything to you! I thing brown rice syrup is a bit thinner then honey and I think is slightly sweeter. And when using either honey or brown rice syrup- remember that they are sweeter then sugar so you can't use the amounts called for!
