We currently live in Wylie ISD and will soon put a contract on a house in Rockwall ISD. I only have a one year old but was curious about the quality of RISD and how it compares to WISD. Any comments, good or bad, are appreciated. Thank you.

I live in Rockwall, and have a 2 year old and one on the way (any day!). Rockwall schools were just nominated by the state as Exemplary. My Mom taught school for 27 years, and says that the state accreditations are accurate and should be listened to. I have heard anything else to the contrary.

Although, I am not familiar with Wylie schools. I have no doubt that my kids will attend public school here instead of private, like we had originally imagined. The new Rockwall/Heath High School was recently on the Today show as the most expensive school built to date in the US. Not that expensive equates to a good education, but I just wanted to let you know about the new school in case you weren't aware. They have all marble floors, tennis courts, etc. Hope that helps!

I do not know much about Wylie schools, but I have friends with children in Rockwall and they absolutely LOVE it (moved there specifically for the schools).

Hope this helps you.

Go to www.schoolmatters.org. You can enter the information for either a specific school or a school district, and you can get lots of helpful information about the schools you are interested in.

Hi C. my name is C. and we have lived in Rockwall again for a year now. I have one boy in kindergarten and 1 in 2nd grade. We love it both boys, go to Nebbie Williams Elementary. Long ago my grandfather was football coach and the assistant superintendant of Rockwall ISD. The teachers that we have come in contact with are great and in RISD the parents are very involved. Academics are also very important. The majority of my family graduated from Rockwall the most recent graduated 2 years ago and she attends Stephen F Austin University. She was a cheerleader and loved the high school. I also have a 1 year old boy. Where is your new home in rockwall and what school will your baby eventually go to?

Hi C.!
I have lived in Rockwall for 2 years now and I have a 3 1/2 year old and one due any day. We moved from Dallas where my kids would have gone to Lakewood Elementary (exceptional school) - but we moved to Rockwall b/c the schools are supposed to be even better. All my friends just raved about them. From what I can see so far, I have to agree. The community is awesome to! They have a parade or some sort of little town celebration for just about everything! It's a great place to raise kids! Good luck!
