We use Vonage and have had it for a couple years with very good results. It is considerably cheaper than Comcast. We have Comcast internet.
i'm thinking of switching my phone service to comcast. has anyone had an experience with them regarding phone service and is it worth the switch?
thanks!

We switched from At&t (SBC) to comcast over a month ago. I haven't had any problems and am enjoying all the "extras" that comcast has to offer. We've used comcast for over a year with cable and internet and have never had a problem with customer service. Even the service people who have come and install are prompt and polite. I actually had an awful experience with At&t and had no service for two weeks.
We recently went away on vacation and was able to forward all calls to my cell phone. We even have received far less telemarketing calls (this is all part of the package). All in all, we've been pleased with the service.

I have Comcast internet and cable TV, and am not impressed. Based on this experience alone, I would not pay them for any additional service.
Good luck.

We have had vonage for 14 months now. No real complaints. If my internet goes out it is set up so all calls are forwarded to my cell (or whatever # you choose) and it is easy to change your options by just logging in to you account. I forward it either to my cell or my husbands whenever we are gone for the day. It is cheaper then comcast, I have comcast cable and internet, even with the package deal vonage is cheaper. I also like that you can listen to your voicemail online. If you want to go with vonvage send me an email, I'll send you a refer-a-friend link and we both get a month free.
Ive had it and it's ok but my issue with comcast is that they are so expensive with their services. We have comcast cable and internet and it's quite expensive but we use vonage as our phone service, much cheaper and relatively good quality.
I haven't, but my neighbor has. It went out not long ago and they said they couldn't come out for three days. She has had other customer service issues, too. She has since switched to our local service. Good luck!

comcast is awful! I had them and ended up having to resort to reporting them to the BBB. Billing problems mostly.
Hope this helps....M.
We switched from AT&T. We've been relatively happy with the service in that we've had no issues with it. It hasn't gone out and we've noticed no change in quality since switching. It was a bit more economical for us. Since we now have Comcast cable, internet and phone it's a bit of a savings from what we were paying before (but still no bargain, IMO).
Hi There,
We just had the guy out thursday.
We are now without a phone. We can
call out but can't get calls in.
So, keep that in mind when making the change.

I had a bad experience with Comcast telephone service. Our bills were too high and we had a disagreement with Comcast about what we actually signed up for. They also charge way too much for any minutes you go over each month. If you have Comcast internet service I would recommend Vonage. It's $27.00 (or $27.95) per month and you get unlimited calls anywhere in the US and they just recently added places in Europe to that "included area". The only problem I had with Vonage is that Comcast's cable coming to my house needed to be replaced (Comcast does it for free) in order for my fax to work. I highly recommend it!
Hope I've helped!

My house is "comcast" everything. Telephone, TV and internet.
I have had no problems with and they are great.
They have the new phone system which tyes in with your computer and voice mail.

Buyer beware............. the customer service is TERRIBLE!
Yes - a few months ago we switched. I like the flat rate because you know what to expect each month. And yes, we are definitely saving money. The only things I don't like are:
- the system calls another system to check to see if you have any voice mail messages. Anyone who calls while it's doing this gets sent directly to voice mail, and you don't realize you missed a call.
- I have been trying to contact someone to see if I can get it to only check for voice mails by forcing it to (so that it doesn't do it on it's own), and I have been having trouble finding the right person to contact.
- the system is hooked into your internet service, so if your internet service OR the electricty go out, so does your phone. Since I also have a cell phone that I always keep charged, it's not a big deal, but it can be an inconvenience.
All in all, I still think it's worth the cost savings, especially since I know I can probably solve the voice-mail-checking issue!
we have comcast and vonage as the other mom who responded. I find that its very cost effective and for the few times the cable goes out its worth it for the price you get it for. I know most said they weren't s pleased but honestly they all have their ups and downs and this works for us. Good luck making a choice!
