Question About Comcast for Telephone Provider?

I am thinking of switching my home phone and internet from Bellsouth to Comcast so that I will only have one bill for those along with my cable and hopefully save some money in the process.

Does anyone have all three of these bills bundled through Comcast? Are you happy with it?

Thanks!

Hi A. - We did this back in May. It all works fine. We had a few kinks to start with. HOwever, comcast was helpful in resolving - it is definitely more econmonical!

We have the phone, cable, and internet bundle and have been very happy with it. About six months ago, we switched over and got a deal for $99/month for all three.

I have the bundled package with Comcast and I am very happy with it. The phone survice is really good and it is convenient to have everything on one bill plus it is not to much money.

I have all three, they work for our family. As a cable internet provider, they are occasionally unreliable, but my cable is fine and the phone has never gone out and they have special stuff for 911 (so don't worry about a digital phone line). Good luck!

Comcast has been my telephone provider since 2004 and I love it. It is SOO much cheaper than Bellsouth. All the perks are included and not a separate charge, even voicemail is free. I can't think of a bad thing to say about it.

I have had the bundle for several years. I have a home based business w/ 5 computers and a network. I have been happy with the service for the most part. Like any provider, there are occasional problems but I have had good customer service when needed. Last year when business dropped off due to the housing market, I called and asked them to lower my rate. They asked if I wanted to drop a service and I said, "no, I just want a lower bill." Surprisingly, they put me on hold and returned to say that they would be happy to re-bundle my services . . .digital cable, digital phone and high-speed internet for 99.99. I added a couple extra digital boxes for two other televisions ( they give you the first one free).

A., we used a VoIP service like Vonage (through Packet8) when we first moved to the Atlanta area. It was not good, but we felt it was all the interference in the apt; we had two lines and it was cheap so we put up with the inconvenience. When we decided to stay, we only had Bell South to choose from for a "landline' so we switched. We moved to a Comcast area in April and thought (from all we heard and the advertisements) the Digital Voice would save money and they said it was NOT a VoIP service. We used Comcast Digital for 3 months and switched back to Bell South - worth the money to us. We were tired of dropped calls, people saying they called and the phone didn't ring, messages with no caller ID when they did with Bell South, signal disappearing in the middle of important conversations, telling people "we have trouble with our phone so to keep trying if you dont get an answer", friends and relatives worrying because they got "that number has been disconnected" message when they called, couldn't connect to a conference line or bridge line and getting a busy signal for 2 times before it would connect. It was worse than VoIP – at least we knew the limitations of the VoIP and they were consistent. We have friends in Conyers and College Park and in WA State that it works for so it may be our area. We knew no one to ask in our new neighborhood. We’re in the lake area south of Atlanta. Comcast was also not able to set up a wireless internet connection in our house either, (many phone calls and 3 techs in the house) and when we switched back to Bell South, the wireless works great. We had NO problems with the cable TV. They tried everything to keep us, but couldn’t satisfy. You asked! It works off the cable, so maybe you can try it without giving up your Bell South. Check it out first. I hope it works for you.

I have had that "bundle" with Comcast for almost 3 years now, & love it!! It makes it very convienient just to pay 1 bill, too. The only problem that I ever have is when there is a storm & all 3 go out - but that has harly happened lately. It makes it so easy to be able to check your voicemail from the computer - esp when you are away from home.

The only issue I have with my bundle program with my cable provider is that when the cable/power goes out, so do the phone lines. Good luck with your decision.

I have vonage as my telephone service and I love paying 31.00 a month for unlimited local and long distance, call waiting, call forward, three way, caller id etc... Every feature is free. I have had vonage for over two years now and I love it. Now I have Shentel for my cable and internet service. That bill is resonable. But local calls alone on bellsouth would be more than 30.00.

Id switch, we love comcast for our internet and cable they are very helpful if you ever have a problem. I would check out skype if you have high speed internet we found that to be the cheapest way to go for internet phone, we dont even use a land line anymore but we do have cell phones as well. bell South which is now AT&T ripped my husband and I off for a $90 bucks when they said they made a service stop (after I had called and told them not to come) they "stoped by" when we weren't home left no bill or notice that they had been there no work was done, but gave us a bill in the mail, I stopped using AT&T cell phone for similar reasons, but thats just personal.

Hi A.! I currently have the bundle and love it. Problem is...... Once the promo that they are offering is over, the price skyrockets. When that happens, you will just have to call them and let them know that you can't afford it any longer and may have to switch companies again. They will then give you the current special that they are running. Ladies..... We need to realize that everyone is in trouble financially and business wise. They want our business, and will most likely do what they can to keep us. Good luck... Hopefully it works out for you. P.S.... I have to admit, I like the Comcast High Speed better than the DSL, and the difital phone service with unlimited long distance is great as well.

We just switched over. We are VERY happy with our choice. Bellsouth was horrible. We lost internet on a regular basis & our phone went screwy about once a week. Now that we have Comcast, we haven't had any problems. The proces seem lower, too. Hope this helps.

UGH! I hate Comcast! When it works, it's great. When it doesn't, the repair service is slow, ineffective, and absolutely frustrating. We had cable and DSL at the time, and the DSL never worked. The cable worked okay. The Comcast service/repair guys stood us up 3 times, messed up our wiring, charged us for new equipment that we didn't need and didn't solve our problem so we just canceled our account and never looked back. No apologies for our trouble. Comcast could've cared less if they lost a customer. We ended up getting a landline and DSL through BellSouth and have had no problems for the past 3 years. I believe BellSouth has a similar bundle now.

So, I would say stay away from Comcast!

Two years ago we switched from BellSouth to Comcast and Vonage. We had so many problems that we switched back to BellSouth (now AT&T) within six months. The Comcast Internet connection was problematic, which made our phone experience (with Vonage) terrible and made it really hard for me to work from home since I connect in to work through the Internet. Comcast could never get it permanently fixed. Internet connectivity varies from neighborhood to neighborhood, but I'll never go back to Comcast. We used to not like BellSouth, but I haven't had a single problem with them in the whole time we've been back with them. I even have twice the Internet speed for the same price now. They've lowered their prices, which is nice. We actually had a rep from AT&T come by (he was going door-to-door to all AT&T customers) and get our permission to lower our price and throw in free long distance. I know it sounds too good to be true, but AT&T is feeling the pinch with so many people dropping their land lines and only using cell phones. Anyway, if you decide to stick with BellSouth, you may want to call them and see if they have a lower price plan you could switch to, perhaps with better features even.

Hi A.,

I had the same experience as Carol D. I really think it depends on the area you are in and the lines that you will be using. Your best bet is probably to ask your neighbors if they have had any problems. I have a home based business also and the dropped calls cost me a LOT of money.

We have them and it works well and is cheaper then having all three with separate companies. However, our phone line goes down a bit more then with Bellsouth and we have to reset it from the modem. If you do switch, just a little information, when listening to a voice mail, if you press double 7 it will delete without you having to sit on the phone the entire time and the same goes for saving I think it's a double 9. Like the way verizon cell phones work! Just a little bit of a hint.

Some folks love comcast others I know won't change to it. I have a sister that went with it and a close friend. I can tell you this when my sister got comcast the day it was to be turned on the guy came and said she needed a lighting rod and then couldn't come back for two weeks, the phone was turned off with no service for a week while comcast got permission from at&t to transfer the phone number since she wanted to keep the same number. It was a bit of a nightmere and process but after all of that she's ok with it and has cable tv when I have nothing with my satilite tv during a storm. I have a friend that has it and she likes it comcast as well except when she's forgot to pay her bill it's a few days after she pays before she can get it back on unlike at&t when it would get turned off with an hour after she'd pay for her phone is was on and she said when they cut it off it's all of it at once. I had tried vonage and when I had it they never told me I couldn't keep bellsouth (at&t) as my internet then I found I couldn't and I couldn't have their internet in my area so I went back it wasn't what I was looking for plus it took 2 weeks to switch back. I'm my self call every so often and have someone go over my bill and I tell them look I'm looking on saving money lets see what we can do??? I myself am not leaving them again it took too long to be in service again either way. It might be ok it you change your number and have a recording tell your new number on the old one, you might not have that two week wait for service I'd ask them and think about what your need is for service if you have to wait, also if you need repair it takes a few days longer them bellsouth for them to get someone out to you. Hope this helps just wanted you to know you may have some waiting periods.

we have the bundle for our beach property at Edisto, and have had no problems with it. we did it just to reduce the number of bills that came in for a house we didn't live in year-round. it has seemed to work out just fine, though we have only had the bundle since late spring and again, we don't live there, so problems may perhaps go unnoticed for a time.

I have recently tried to get both Comcast and ATT for my phone service, cable & Hi-speed internet. Unfortunately, neither of them are available in my area, nor is Vonage. I have no experience with anyone having either, because all of my friends & family live here. That said, you might check into ATT for their bundle pacakages, since you have BellSouth already. I think ATT bought them out, and you should be able to bundle with them for your other things. I have seen several great deals on TV with ATT. Hope this helps.

Yes we have that bundle. We are happy with the service. The only trick was it was advertised as $99 but actually $129 is charged to our card because of "fees". And now our 12 months is up and they called and said it will now be $142. They also tried to get us to sign up for more channels and our bill would be $159. I see the advertisment for it right now saying they are giving you a free Wii game system if you sign up for the bundle. There may be a catch!

the 2 only reasons we haven't swithed is like another psot said, when one goes out they all go out. Also, i find comcast to be more along the lines of customer no service and have had enought trouble with our cable I can't imagine that the savings would counteract my frustration levels.

I agree with Barbarba S about customer no service and most seem to have no clue. We just switched to cable phone and bundled 2 months ago. I was nervious about it because if cable goes out you have no phone but I have been told if you need 911 you can still dial it. (that is what I was most worried about) So yesterday they screwed up and cut our cable off and they cant come and fix it till tomarrow but luckly my husband is handy and fixed it him self. By the way this is the 6th time in 3 yrs they have screwed our services up. So we had to use our cell phones for a while. It is a great savings if you bundle, ie: we have cable internet and hd cable at a cost of like 130? I think pluse the $70 ATT bill and now with the bundle we are paying like $135 and no att bill. My husband refuses to give up the cable modem so we will just put up with the bad service I guess.
