Hi S.,
Febreeze is a GREAT thing to have and it does work! You can get it at almost any store and it does come in a squirt bottle. I hope that this helps!

I am moving out of my home and the furniture I have has been in a house with smoke and animal scents. I have limited cash, so I can't purchase more. I have a queen bed that has been in a room that has had a cat and litter box in it. No spraying, but the litter smell is very strong. The couch and chair I will take has had animals spray it and smoke. I am looking for a spray or cleaner that will not hurt the mattress, chair and couch. I will be covering the chair and couch but I just want to be sure to get the odors out the best I can. Any thoughts?

I swear by white vinegar for removing odors. Fill a spray bottle with 1/3 vinegar, 2/3 water and spray down everything. The vinegar neutralizes the odor, much like Febreeze does but at a fraction of the cost. Plus, vinegar is a natural disinfectant.
There are several good products out there to use. Places like Petco have sprays and liquids you can use to get the urine smell out. I believe in Wal-Mart has things like that in the their cleaning products area. Products like Ozium (Auto Care area at Wal-Mart) will get out smoke. It worked on my van. The prior owners were heavy smokers and coffee drinkers and it reeked of both odors! But the Ozium got it out. You'll have to saturate the fabric almost with it and let it sit for awhile, and it might take more than one application, but don't give up. It took like three apps for my van.
You can spray Natures Miracle on it and or place vinager in a bowl near it, then smell should be gone soon. I used to do property management and those were my tricks.
HI S.,
I have a cat that will sometimes spray when mad. The first thing I would suggest is getting your cats fixed (if the aren't). There are a lot of low cost or no cost programs I would be happy to refer you to. ____@____.com
Second - for the stains themselves: Use a product like Natures Miracle. Use as directed then place newspaper on the areas to soak up the excess odor. Leave the newspaper on it overnight (don't actually use it to wipe the product) You may have to do this several times, but eventually the smell will come out. I hope this makes sense. Good luck to you!!

I would go and purchase Simple Solution at the Pet store, works wonders for pet smells! As far as smoke smell, I will have someone come in and professionally clean it. The mattress I would put outside and let it air dry for a few days if you can and use Frabreez, they have a frabreez for pets! Hope it helps. Good luck.
I have heard that ODORZ OUT works really well and not too expensive. I believe you can get it at Walgreens or Ace Hardware. Check out the website www.queenofclean.com. I'm sure she can give you the answers. Good luck.
when i first got divorced ihad no furniture so i bought a couch for $20 at a yard sale . it smelled horrible. so much that i finally put it outside. since it was so cheap and i had no other choice, i really couldnt ruin it any more than it already was, i rented a carpet steamer and used it to clean it. it took a couple of weeks to dry completely but thanfully it was summer. i left it outside utnil it dried. we had that couch for about ten years after that and it was clean and didnt smell anymore
We had both a mattress and couch that smelled like smoke very badly. We febreezed the mattress to death and it worked...but we had to keep it outside and use so much febreeze that the mattress was basically soaked...we did this a couple of times, letting it dry in between. The smoke goes past that first layer and gets into the padding inside the mattress...you will probably want to spray down the boxspring, too, but don't soak the wood too much. We pretty much did the same thing with the couch. It did work, but it was time consuming and we went through a lot of febreeze.
We have multiple cats and have had issues with urinating outside of the box...I can tell you from personal experience that there is nothing you can do. Nature's Miracle and products like that work on small stains in well ventilated rooms...but if you go back to that same spot a while later you'll still be able to smell some of the urine/spray. You might check with your local vet for suggestions. We literally tried everything on the market including an expensive treatment by a professional and nothing worked. We ended up getting new carpet in our apartment and installing hard floors in our new house. I will say though, my cat has peed on bath/kitchen mats and I just use regular laundry detergent and Clorox (or clorox 2 on colors)in the laundry and those have come clean. Maybe try scrubbing with a thick paste of Tide and water...that's what I did on my wedding dress and it got out mud, grass, and grimey stuff that had been on it for 5 months. Good luck!
Try Natures Miracle brand pet odor and stain remover. It has enzymes in it that break down the protiens in urine. It will smell fresh and clean when you are done
I'm not sure about smoke smell but for the cat smell, I love Nature's Miracle that can be bought at Petsmart or Petco. It works well at taking out the odor. I even used it to clean the carpet while potty training my kids! Good luck!
I have found products in Petsmart or something similar that has pet neutralizers so you can use them on your furniture. Also, if you have a Janitorial type store near you you can go in and ask for something that will fit your needs. best of luck!
Unfortunately smoke and "cat" are probably the worst odors to be lingering in your furniture!! There are ALL sorts of cleaners that will claim to break down whatever is causing the odor and ultimately the odor itself. Trust when I say it's probably not going to happen no matter how much you clean it, no matter what you use on it etc. A friend of mine purchased a home from her Grandmother. She had a cat and smoked..a lot!! Not wanting to get rid of her Grandmothers belongings, she had the furniture professionally cleaned. After that didn't help, we bought at least $100.00 worth of cleaning supplies that were specific to pet odors. I spent hours scrubbing everything...to no avail. I know times are tough for everyone...but maybe you can find inexpensive furniture to replace yours at a resale shop. I've seen some nice stuff around. You may be able to get rid if some of the problem..but once smoke and pet odors permeate ANYthing..it's almost impossible to get it completely out. Good luck! :)
