The only thing I know about is ink in clothes, spray it with hair spray work it in and wash it. So I guess maybe hair spray on it and warm soapy wash might take it out.
I have two big problems;
One is blue ink pen on a white couch. Does anyone know how to get it out? This is blue writing ink, not marker.
The other biggie is old dried up oil in carpet. At the time of the spill, I sopped it up with a towel, and got as much out as I could, but I couldn't get it all. It dried up (while tracking to other steps), and then I tried dishwashing liquid, and that seemed to clean it up pretty well, but weeks later, I still have the dirt and where I put the dishwashing liquid (line) show up! So, I guess the only thing to do is replace the carpet, is that right?
thanks for your help!

I would try some OXICLEAN. This stuff is amazing. IT took blue pen out of my wood! - But is safe enough for even carpet and clothes.
Motsenbocker's Life Off!! I used it to get red nail polish out of a whole load of laundry. It's great stuff!! I got it at the Home Depot. I think you can look at the Where To Buy to find where you want to buy it. I seriously believe in this stuff.

For the ink: spray it with hairspray, let it sit a little while and then it should wipe off with a warm cloth.
For the oil: Have you tried shaving cream? Men's shaving cream rubbed into a spot with a toothbrush, let it sit and then dab it up with a warm cloth.
Melaleuca has a great cleaning solution that takes almost anything out of fabric and carpet. It is called Sol-U-Mel. You have to order it from their catalog. Give me a call if you want to try some - ###-###-####.
It may not get it all the way out but fingernail polish remover and hairspray both seem to work on ink stains! Oh and I would not replace carpet with four kids in the house! I have three and we had brand new carpet installed when we move in our house 7 years ago and with the kids and the dog it just got trashed! Even thogh the old carpet was ugly I wish we would have just kept, that new carpet was 3k, what a waste! Maybe try really hard on the stains and then have them profssinally cleaned, that is only $300, much cheaper then full replacement and it does help! Good luck!
for the pen ink try hairspray!! or even baby wipes...
i'm typing one handed so sorry!!
Hairspray is amazing for getting out the pen ink. Spray it on, and then rub it off with a damp cloth. Good luck!
Hi S.,
I would rent a rug doctor shampooing machine and get the upholstry attachment and use that. Good luck!

Try flooding your carpet with water and sucking it up with a carpet cleaner machine, or by standing on a clean towel. Keep doing it until the detergent is gone. In our dry climate there isn't much to worry about in getting your carpet wet.
For the pen marks, use hairspray, it works!
Good luck!
Yup S., it is greased lightening.
Spray it on your couch, let it sit, spray some more and use a small brush to scrub in a circle. It will come completely out. It may take repeated working,, but it will come out.
Do the same with the oil in your carpet.
That will get oil or ink out of most anything.
Good luck

Have you tried having it professionally cleaned? THey can do magic.
on the carpet don't give up hope that you have to replace it yet. if the detergent got out the oil but now you have the ring of a different color collecting dirt shampooing your carpets will take care of that. I had a few of those spots...well we just shampooed our carpets and they look fantastic...of course I was kind of hoping I would have to replace some of them (sigh) haha. but my budget thanks me and my logical side has to agree that it did a great job and I need to focus on the "needs" of our home right now and be glad that shampooing got it out. we have a shampooer (actually our kirby) so we didn't pay to have it done. I know someone suggested renting one if you don't have one but check with friends and neighbors you trust who trust you first to see if you could maybe borrow--I used to borrow a freinds before I got mine. and now I lend mine to my sister who lives close whenever she needs her carpets done too.
Hairspray works well for ink. Not sure about the oil though. I would do a professioanl carpet cleaner before I replaced the carpet. Most will give you a free no obligation estimate and tell you if they can get it out.
Good luck!

Try Oxy Clean. Detergent will stay in carpet and just absorb dirt even after it has dried. Oxy clean on the stain, in a spray bottle dilluted with water is awesome! It got cranberry juice out of my carpet.
The best thing you can do with any stain is just dab up the moisture then immediately put stain stuff on it, let it sit and dab it up. There is some stuff I get at the grocery, called Enzyme Away, it is natural stuff, in the laundry area that works great for me on little mini stains on the carpet.
You bet!
I have products that I use that take perminent market out!
Non- toxic too! If you would like to learn more just let me know...
I just barely managed to get blue pen ink out of my son's white dress shirt with rubbing alcohol. That's the ingredient in hairspray everyone is suggesting. I put a washcloth behind the stain, soaked it with alcohol, and then blotted it with another washcloth and let it sit for a couple hours, then washed it on cold and voila! It was nearly all gone. When I repeated the process, the rest of the stain came out and his shirt was rescued. I wish you similar luck with your sofa!

According to my husband if you use white gasoline you can get the oil out of your carpet without the big smell. White gasoline does not have it's own smell like regular gasoline. I hope this works for you! I don't know about the pen in carpet. Good luck!!! P.
Goo Gone works wonders for oil in carpet. I used it once to get motor oil out of my carpet that I had tracked through the living room. Also, Gastrol makes an automotive degreaser in a purple plastic spray bottle that is awesome for household cleaning. I've used it in my laundry to get impossible stains out and it doesn't hurt the clothing. You can find it in the automotive section at Wal-Mart or an auto parts store. Sorry, can't remember the name of it, just that it's in purple spray bottle. If you try it, I would definitely test it on a small area first. Good luck.
For the carpet....soap is sticky and collects dirt. Try scrubbing or going over with a carpet cleaner with HOT water. Don't use anymore soap cause there is probably some soap residue already on the carpet, just collecting dirt from the bottom of your feet when you walk on it.
Soap attracts dirt (I guess that's how it gets it off of things!), and it takes a lot of water to get it out, so you're going to have to rinse it LOTS. Get a pitcher and pour water all over the spot, then suck it up. I'd guess you will have to use at least 5 gallons to see a difference. Do it on a day when you can open up the house and put a fan nearby to dry it.
For the ink, if you can take off the cushion cover, do that. If not, you're going to need a lot of clean rags and maybe an upholstery cleaner. Rubbing alcohol will take out the ink, but it will dissolve it and make it run into a big light-blue stain unless you can dab most of it up and then rinse it immediately. Something in hairspray (besides the alcohol in it) does the same trick, sometimes even better than just plain alcohol.
Once I spilled a whole bottle of india ink on my sweatshirt. I got it all out with alcohol, hairspray, and lots of rinsing.
Good luck!
Have you considered calling in a professional?
Hi, I used to sell this great cleaning product that's all natural and biodegradable, called protek, it takes out ink and oil. 1-888-protek1 to order.
I have gotten ink out of a white blouse using hairspray before. It worked wonderfully
Hi S.,
Just yesterday, July 24th, I was at a networking meeting and one of my newer customers got up and shared a testimony about one of the products I distribute from Shaklee.
She had an ink spot down on the lower portion of a shirt she was wearing. She took Shaklee's, Nature Bright Laundry Booster & Stain Remover, and followed the directions for mixing and let the top soak for 2 hours in it. At the end of the 2 hours, she said the spot was entirely gone! She also mentioned that the top was blue and she could of sworn that it was now brighter, (that's what it's called "Boost")!
She regretted not taking before and after pictures, as she said it was simply amazing to her.
Here's the link to this particular product. If your interested in it, let me know, as we are running a free shipping special right now.
