We want to take our son to Chuckee Cheese next month. He is 15 months, but will be 16. What games are in the toddler area?

What can I do next?

Sorry, but I wouldn't recommend Chuck E Cheese at any age. My daughter's preschool class went there, she played on all the toys (which didn't look to me like they were all that clean), and came down with Scarlet Fever! (Yes, really.) Scarlet Fever is caused by a nasty strain of strep bacteria. I'll never go back to that place. They really don't take the necessary steps to clean the toys, and then you combine kids touching all that nasty, dirty stuff, and then EATING... uggggh! Not worth it.

My 4-year-old toddler came down with a bad case of Mono and strep, after a nightmarish afternoon at the funkiest Chuck E Cheese around. Call it the birthday party from hell.

The place was slammed, and the older kids totally had no regard for those too small to keep up in the sticky, germy habit-trail and ball pits. My child got trampled twice, and no one on CEC staff could control the crowds or kids.

The tables were never wiped off between parties, the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting and wreaked of dirty diaper, and the food was disgusting. No surprise that my kid got violently ill. It's a virtual petri-dish. He finally had to have his tonsils surgically removed and was pretty much down for the count for about three months. Sorry but I'm with Catherine, the place is not fit for children...it was the stuff investigative news programs would thrive on during Neilsen's sweeps!!

We're never going to CEC again.

I would hold off on the chuck e cheese. The climbing area is a hotbed of germs. We have only been there a few times and each time my boys came down with nasty colds.

I wouldn't take your son there just yet. I took my daughter there around that age because some friends with older kids were going and she was nearly trampled in that place. One kid, who was probably around 2, pushed her down the stairs of the playscape on purpose. We left after that. I have also taken my son when he was around that age because my daughter was invited to a birthday party and there just isn't anything for the younger set to do. My son is 2 now and I took both kids just this afternoon and he had a much better time, although he still couldn't play many of the games. I would wait until closer to 2 years old. Try the zoo or something like that instead.

Check your local malls to see if they have a soft place play area. These are geared for smaller kids and have padded floors.

It really various from Chuckee Cheese to Chuckee Cheese what they have in each area. The ones I have seen have very little for the age group under 2 years of age. There usually are those slow movement one kid ride (car, train etc.), MAYBE a small play set to climb w/a slide... that is about it. Your child may enjoy the lights and sounds but not much for a child under 2 years old to do (I first took my daughter around 18 months, but she did very little and we left after an hour). Also the parents usually just let their kids run around so I would play more of a "enforcer" example; Do not cut in line, please go to the end... or we paid for this game please step back and do not touch... or do not push... I hated it. We have not been there for over a year now... but I do plan to go back now that my daughter is 4 years old and will be able to do more and stand her ground more when kids are pushing and just plain not being parented.

Not a whole lot for that age. They have a few of those little rides, and there is a climbing playplace, but I wouldn't want to crawl in there after him....

I'd wait until he's old enough to start asking! Trust me, you'll get plenty of opportunity to take him later!! :)

Not a lot of games in the toddler area, it's more like things to climb on...and its fenced in to keep them contained...there are a few "rides" the lil' kids can do though

they have a few things there, and a ball pit but it seems everytime we go there older kids are always playing in the toddler area and there parents arnt stopping them! defeats the purpose of having a toddler area!
