My 5 years old child had 6 episodes of vomiting at nights in the last year. Pediatrician is unsure what it is. We suspect cyclic vomiting syndrome (not oficially diagnosed). Each episode lasted 1-3 night, and vomiting occured starting 4-6am and then for 2-3h. initially episodes were 3 months apart then became more frequent, and last 2 episodes were 2 weeks apart. Did anybody had experience with kids with similar problem and if yes, what helped???. Any nonmedicamentous measures, like changing diet/avoiding any specific food?Pleas adviseworried

What can I do next?

Ok so here is my experience: my kids had this 2-3 times per week for about 6 months. It turned out to be a milk protein & egg allergy. I would definitely get them allergy tested (they can do it by simple blood work).

This sounds more like what my good friend went through & it was kidney related. I would recommend looking into this as well...she really had to push her doctor, but it turned out she was right.

Hopefully it is just allergies.

Not too long ago I saw a show "Medical or Mystery Diagnosis" where they show cases that are unusual or only 1% of people have, and the same thing, this poor little girl went thru a year or more of testing and it ended up being something in the brain that they removed. I'm sorry I can't remember the specific name of it, but have a MRI of the brain done vomiting is the worst! Oh, it happened to her about 4 hours after going to bed, and it has to do with her lying down flat. Hope this helps, maybe look up past TV shows I saw. K.

Get a 2nd opinion. This is not usual. Your Pediatrician should have referred you to a specialist of some kind. If anything, take your girl to the ER. I would not just wait or "guess."
Take care and all the best to you,

I saw an episode on Mystery Diagnosis that sounds similiar. They did a sleep study on the child and found when she was vomitting that she was having seizures.

I'd continue to push your pediatrician for a diagnosis or at least to be referred to someone who can help you.

Best of luck,
M.
