Hello J.,

If the father of your son is the same as your daughter it's going to be a draw. Because of the disabilities both of you are sharing the responsibilty of caring for children who have special needs. But, you can go to your local DFS office and take your ID social security cards, birth certificates, divorce degree or separation order. They will give you the forms to fill out and you may have to write a short summary of the situation. It takes time it is not a quick process, or you can contact a lawyer who specializes in child support. It's free through DFS just alittle longer of a process. Good Luck!!

get an attorney and ask for a motion to modify for child support, were you married initially? it may take some time to get things rolling, but definitely talk to an attorney that deals with family law or divorces.

Hi J.

If you don't have one you need to get a lawyer. If you have one then ask him about child support. I have never gone through this kind of thing, but I think the lawyer has to file a petition for it. What area are you in. I can give you a name of a really good lawyer.

J.,
I have a 7 year old son and his father and I have not been together since he was about a year old. When I finally went decided to ask his father for child support I went to the Child Support Enforcement office, it is a division of child services, and they gave me the paper work needed to fill out for request of child support. When my son's dad recieved the paperwork he in turn sued me for custody of our son, so we had to go to court. I now have his check garnished each week and recieve money through the Family Support Payment Center in Jeff City.
I would think your best bet would be to contact the child support enforcement office, which by the way is all done free of cost. It may take a while before you start recieving the child support but they will be able to explain everything to you and help you get what you need.
Good Luck!

you would need to go to the state and file a petition for child support order, and then proceed from there.

Your local department of childrens and family services (name may vary based on location) should have a child support collection division to assist you. I believe these services are generally free of charge. Look up online using keywords (Child Support Services + your county, city or state). Here's a federal link. Select 'Homepages' under "state links" to get you in the right direction. http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cse/

I used the Child Support Enforcement agency, look in the government pages of your phone book, or online. I know MO has an 800 number for the whole state. You don't need a lawyer, they walk you through the process, it was a godsend for me. Good luck!
