I avoid Chapstick for myself - seems to make dry lips worse. My dermatologist suggested Aquaphor (a Eucerin product), and it's great! I would use it on my children too.
Can you put chapstick on a 13 month old?

I don't think it'd be a big deal unless she's licking it all off her lips. If she keeps licking it, but she needs it, then wipe some on her after she's gone to sleep.
I don't see why not, but I'd personally use a product like Bert's Bees that is not petroleum based.
i use melaleuca and burts bees. you could also try a little vaseline.
I use organic chapstick on my daughter.
Yes you can. I have been putting Chapstick on my little boy sice he was around 10-11 months old. It has not hurt him at all. Now when his lips are dry he comes up and asks for some. (He is now 3 years old) I hope that this helps you.
I use it on my kids all the time.
My Cousin is 7mos. old and her parents put it on her all the time she makes the kissy lips and everything it's cute.
My kids are 3mos. and 7 years and I use it on both of them. Aslong as their not eating it.
Sure you can, but with this list (see below) of ingredients, why would you want to do that? I really think there are much better options out there for a 13 month old, like lanolin which is used for nursing.
Chapstick
INGREDIENTS:
Octinoxate 7.5%
Octisalate 5%
Octocrylene 7%
Oxybenzone 5%
White petrolatum 30%
AND: aloe barbadensis leaf extract, alumina, arachidyl propionate, artificial flavor, butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), cetyl alcohol, colloidal silicon dioxide, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, ethylhexyl palmitate, isopropyl lanolate, isopropyl myristate, lanolin, medium chain triglycerides, methylparaben, mineral oil, octyldodecanol, oleyl alcohol, paraffin, phenyl trimethicone, polyhydroxystearic acid, propylparaben, saccharin, silica, titanium dioxide, vitamin E acetate, white wax
We use organic or natural products like Burt Bees but watch out for licking. Our doctor says we can always use vaseline.
Our son did. (Because he saw his big sister using it!) But I'd be very careful to watch and make sure he's not ingesting it......
My children could have been the original Suzie Chapstick - well, Suzie and Stan because I have a girl and a boy. Never had any issues...just make sure no one is eating it...

HI C.! At home you can use olive oil. It works beautifully! There is a hemp chapstick that my mom bought for my son that has no harmful ingred. but I can't tell you the name because the chapstick went through the wash :)
Otherwise, Burt's Bees is great! Yikes! don't use Vaseline!
It's easy to make your own. Just put pure beeswax and pure vegetable oil in a jar and heat over low heat in a pan of water just until the wax melts. Let it cool and you have chapstick that is safe to ingest. Use about two parts oil to one part beeswax.
We use something called Raspberry Larry Lip balm from www.daisybluenaturals.com It has no harmful ingredients and tastes great. We also use Burt's Bee's but since it's peppermint, if the babe's lips are chapped at all (which my daughters are a lot) then that will sting.
I use Lansonoh cream for nursing moms on my baby's lips -it's "nipple ointment", but it's good for extremely dry skin, and they say it's safe for babies.
We actually use Lanolin- the Lansinoh that you use for breast feeding is an AMAZING skin moisturizer, and my toddler who gets dry cheeks in the biting cold says it's the only thing that doesn't sting. So I started using in both of our chapped skin, hands, face, lips, where ever.
best.
I wouldn't recommend chapstick, believe it has phenol in it, not good. Melaleuca or Burt's bees. I use Melaleuca.
13 months olds will lick their lips, be careful.

Aquafor is another option. Eucerine makes it. It is a lot like Vaseline. My son had bad excema and we used that quite a bit on his little cheeks. I also worked in a Doctor's office and it was recommended a lot.
I use bubble and bee organic. I would get the unscented one...it is wonderful. www.bubbleandbee.com

p.s. You can also use lansinoh
