Has anyone had carpal tunnel surgery? If so can you give me details of your recovery? How long, could you use that hand at all, pain level? Recovery with kids? Tips?

Thanks in advance.

I had it a couple of years ago and it really wasn't bad. But I didn't have kids to deal with. Mine is grown and actually drove me to the surgery center.
Hand was in a sling for about three weeks if I recall correctly.

I wish I had mine done SOONER. INSTANT RELIEF!

There has been HUGE advancements over the years. I had my left hand done first and the right hand done a year later. Very little pain, the carpal tunnel pain was WAY worse that the post surgery.

I HIGHLY recommend having it done ASAP. :)

I had both hands done 5 years ago when my son was 6 months old. My one hand was so bad, I was kind of a test subject for them (long story).

I went to the Brown Hand Center and as far as I'm concerned, there's no other place to go. When I went they were located across from Desert Ridge, looks like their on Bell Road now. It cost a little more but was well worth it. Looking at my hands you wouldn't even know I had the surgery. My scars (if you can even call them that) look like wrinkles. There was virtually no pain and my recovery was a week. Research the Brown method, it's sooo much less invasive than the traditional carpel tunnel surgery.

I could go on and on. Feel free to message me and I'll give you my phone number, I'd love to tell you more about my experience if you're interested. All the way around it was the best experience.

I just had it done on my dominant hand on April 26 along with a ganglion cyst removed from the same wrist. The pain wasn't terrible. I did take Tylenol 3 for fours nights with Motrin during the day for about 10 days. I had a lot of inflammation so the doctor prescribed a strong anti-inflammatory at my post op appointment which helped a lot. My Palm is still sensitive. I am not able to put my full body weight on it. Massaging the scar is definitely helping reduce it though.
My biggest problem is weakness. I was just able to open a bottle of water for the first time last week. I don't know if it from the carpal tunnel release or the cyst. Possibly a combination. I am a single mom and provide daycare for special needs children. I was able to care for them 3 days after surgery. My daughter had to help me do things like tie shoes and fasten my bra for a few weeks. The surgery was completely worth it.
