My daughter is mixed (aferican american and white) her hair is crazy all the time. I tried the pink lotion boo on that don't like it it makes her hair worse. After trying ALOT of things what works best is dollar general detangler, washing no more often than once a week and using sauve no tears shampoo for kids. Also her hair STAYS in braides or beads or ponys. Movies my daughter has always sat still for since she could sit we have done her hair everyday!!!!!! Hope that helps.

good luck

Don't use baby shampoo. Go to www.softsheen-carson.com and look at their child haircare products. Also go to a black beauty supply store and try doo groo product to moisture her hair. Lastly only wash her hair one to two times a week so that it doesn't get too dry.

I'm not sure if any of these tips will help, but here's the link (at the bottom) to my question about what to do with crazy hair. My girl has GORGEOUS hair, but she hated to have it done because it hurt her when I tried to brush out all the tangles. I've started using Infusium conditioner and I also use the leave-in conditioner from Infusium too. I only wash her hair 2-3 times a week and when I do it, I make sure to use a wide tooth comb. That's what we've had luck with. Good luck to you!!!!!!!!!!! This hair thing is quite a battle!

Because you have a child with different texture you may want to find someone a friend, neighbor or someone whom might have a child of the same type hair and ask them what they use. Its hard but trust me it will get better in the end. You must grease her hair to make it grow and for it to be manageable. You might have to use a detangler with the pink oil put its not that hard. Hit me back if you still needs some help. I am a liscence cosmetologist and I have a daughter too.

Your right! the pink lotion does dry the hair.I started using "Olive Oil" moisturizing Hair Lotion by:( Organic Root Stimulator)it smells soooo! goooood!(lol) and it doesn't get dry or turn hard or leave thay grey dusty film on the hair. My daughter is 8 yrs old and she/we love the smell. I just found this Olive Oli about 4-5 months ago in pathmark. I just started using the "Olive Oil shampoo" now my boys & husband all use it. We threw out all the pink lusters cream. I forgot! I first started using "Just for Me Kids Moisturizing Hair cream" it's pink, with a fruity smell when she was about3-4 yrs old untill I ran across the Olive Oil.My daughter has long thick wavy hairdown the middle of her back.Incase your wandering about my advise(laugh), I'm a mother of 5 (4boys& finally our 1 girl)we live in west philly.( I 4-got to say the Olive Oil moisurizer lasts a long time& you'll be able to feel the difference with her hair also, compared to what yu use to use. you'll only have to put it in her hair 2 x's a week if that much! If her scalp looks clean and doens't have a slight smell then i'll skip the1st week,& wash it the beginning monday. I ment at least every 10-15 days I'll wash our hair. The boys wash their hair almost daily since they shower, then they want to suck up all the "Olive Oil" When your husband notices the difference in the way your hair feels then he starts using it,you know it's a winner! (laugh)

Hi A.,
My aunt & best friend are both hair dressers and have told me that the baby shampoo is absolutely the worst thing for the kids hair unless it is super oily. It will dry it out terribly if it is not. They have also told me not to wash her hair everyday, wash it every other day or every 2 days and just use conditioner on it on the off days. I have found that the Pantene line has been absolutely awesome for both my daughter's hair and mine as well, since of course I color mine.

Give that a try. I hope it helps!

My daughter is bi-racial as well, however, she has a beautiful grade of hair. My parents are also bi-racial, but my grade of hair is ok, what I use is the pink luster silk lotion and Sta-Sof-Fro Hair & Scalp Spray Comb Out Conditioner with Lanolin, Protein for Extra Dry Hair and I also use a light creme grease with Castrol Oil on my hair and scalp (White Creme Texture) and Johnson's No More Tangles Spray Detangler on my hair. Please try not to use any Black Hair Care Products on her hair, because they will dry her hair out. I hope this information is helpful for you. Please let me know the outcome, because I have the same problem with my hair and this is what helps me and my hair is manageable and wavy and easy to maintain and take care of. Good luck
