I am wondering where moms find care for their infants when they go back to work, Center, in-home, nanny. I provide care for infants and I'm not getting much response with my online advertising, any ideas where I could advertise to new moms? What are some of the most important features that you look for?

What can I do next?

Thanks to everyone who responded! I really appreciate all of your information. I have found a site that has a lot of parents who both work outside the home.
Thanks again!

I have to agree with Denise. It is hard to leave your babies with just anyone. You really need to get friends to pass good words for you. I would never trust anyone from just an ad. I am the extreme though. I sacrafice a lot to stay home with my kids. At your daughters school they may have a bulletin board also....

I'm a SAHM and if I were to go back to work I would first look toward a daycare center or a close friend/relative. These days it is hard to be trusting of people you don't know. I would offer the same suggestions as the others - spread the word among people you know. Maybe talk to people in your church, staff at your pediatrician's office, etc - people who have come to know you over the years and can say something about your parenting skills, your character, etc.

I have a revire on mamasource, but that is not where I got any of my jobs. I got them through word of mouth. I got them through chatting with ppl I knew that knew friends who were looking. I also was found through a T ball team for another mother. That story was funny. I went to a baseball game with my daughter, and the team mom saw how great I was with my own daughter and saw how patient i was with the baseball team kids, and refered me to another mom looking who was not even there that night. I am a SAHM, and I do this because I could not leave my child with a stranger. Let ppl know your reasons behind what you do and how you parent, and why you love what you do.....Be so honest that you pour yourself out......that is the only way to get a job.....

Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving my infant with anyone that I found in an ad, online, etc. I think word-of-mouth and referrals will be your best way. People that you know who know someone with a need for care, etc. Tell EVERYONE you know what you are doing and that you are looking for clients!

Hi C. -

I too am a stay at home Mom, who is also looking to earn some money for my family by babysitting for a working mother. I am in the same boat, I also placed an ad with no response at sittercity. I think I will place an ad on Craigs List as well. I live in Oxford, PA and would only want to take on 1 (2 if siblings) other child besides my own two boys ages 22 months and almost 4.

I agree word of mouth probably helps, but I live in an area where the majority of Moms also stay at home. I have a friend who is supplementing her family's income with babysitting two infants, she is making over $300 per week. But, she knew the Moms, or they were friends of friends - word of mouth. I asked my friend to recommend me if she gets any other inquiries. I am hoping to start up after the holidays.
