Sorry - I'm punchy tonight! We had a question asked and answered a few minutes ago with two identical names, before the original poster changed her name so that wouldn't happen again!

No, you cannot. If you would like to update anything, you can go back to your original post and click the button that allows you to say "so what happened" and put in more information or additional comments. Or, you can leave that space for later on after you have consulted with your doctor and have an actual update, and in the meantime, use "edit" my question, and add something like:
"ETA: _____"
(ETA means Edited To Add)

I know that people have done it - but I don't know how.

If you want to add stuff to your post - use the So What Happened.

The only way that you can respond is in your "so what happened" area or you can edit your question.
