I say get him a cheap but "real" camera. We had the Fisher Price one and the batteries always died, it had a tiny view finder and the pics were horrible.

I would suggest a Kodak Easy Share. It is not a toy, but a real camera designed for grandparents - who are a bit tech beckwards. My 6 year old has had one for 1.5 years and loves it. My 3.5 year old uses it all the time. I found a deal around the holidays and got it cheaper than the toy - which I learned from friends has poor picture quality.
Good Luck!

Hi A. ... I'd avoid the Fisher-Price kids cameras. I bought one last year for my 5-year-old and was immediately disappointed. The batteries would only stay charged for a few hours. The company did replace it, which I really appreciated, but the picture quality is very poor. If I had to do it over again I'd buy him an entry-level digital camera from the regular market, not one dubbed a kids' camera. We recently replaced our digital camera and gave our son our old one. Hope this helps.

We bought the Durable Fisher price one its kinda big but my daughter loves it....its two years old and she still plays with it...it hooks to the computer to download the pictures...they are a little fuzzy but who cares when your child is so impressed and excited of the pictures they took. They are like $60 or so at like walmart

I LOVE my daughter's VTech digital camera. I'm not sure of the picture quality as we've never printed any out, but its easy to use and very duralbe.
Just be sure to buy recharable batteries!

There's a Vtech digital camera that's out there and it's pretty cool for the kids! My 3 boys love it! It takes digital pics, video and you can play games on it too. I don't know how to work it very well, but my 6 year old is an expert with it!LOL My 4 year old loves it too and they all take turns making videos and taking pics! Hope that helps! Good luck!

I have done the fisher price one for my daughter for this past christmas till her older brothers threw it out with the trash. We have let them use our old digital cameras, We have also bought them there own. Sad to say they don't take good care of them. But the do have many kids style cameras that have changeing face plates and things like that. I will also be looking for a new one this christmas for my almost 3year old daughter.

I purchased the Fisher Price camera for my twins 4 years ago, and it still works, and they still play with it. What I love is you can drop it, throw it or even step on it, and it is durable. And you can hook the FP camera to your PC and download pictures, and print on regular paper if you want. Also, the camera is easy for your child to turn on, view the pictures, and delete. good luck

We have the Fisher Price camera, which has terrible picture quality. On the plus side, if you don't plan on printing a lot of the pictures, it does take a beating. My son is 5 now and uses an old digital camera that was just too slow for us. We actually bought him a cheap (on clearance at Walmart) camera this summer, to save for Christmas. Unfortunately I don't know how it will do yet. He'll have fun with it anyway, I'm sure!
