So What Happened?

Hi, thanks for all the input. I ended up getting him a regular Kodak digital camera for $100 that I am giving to him for Christmas this year. He takes great pictures with my camera when I let him use them and I figure I got him a nice case and will try to give him good instructions hopefully it will last for a while! Half the fun is seeing the picture on the LCD screen and this has a really big one and it wasn't that much more expensive than the 'kid' ones and will take way better pics.

Hi H.!
We bought the Fisher Price Kid Tough Digital Camera last year for my son (almost 5). I had heard mixed reviews of the quality of pictures it takes. Since we got it though, it takes really nice pictures, he can use the LCD display to view things and its VERY durable.

We were really happy with our purchase.

Hi H.,

Last year my kids who were 8 and 6 at the time got the vivicam 3785...It has a flash, 3.0 megapixel 4x digital zoom, 1.4 lcd display. We read reviews on many cameras including the kids cameras and it had the highest for a cheep camera. Even an adult liked it for a small simple camera. I am unsure if they still sell it...but we bought it at Walmart...It has been dropped numerous times...and still works great. It also has a video feature. Without sound however...Although I must admit, I just realized how to get a SD into it, and have not tried the video on computer yet, but will. You can change modes on it too...I am pretty sure the price was comparable to the kids..I am unsure though if they have come out with great kid cameras. When I reveiwed on Amazon, Toys R Us....I saw many negative reviews on kids cameras...That is why I shyed away from them. Keep in mind though, that was 2 Christmases ago. And technology is better. Your best bet is to read reviews on the websites....and of course here. The cameras still work great. I will try to send a personal email to you wih a file attachment of quality...Maybe you can compare that way..Let me know what you decide. Have fun....My kids love to take pix....and you can delete them. Yahoo....I needed that feature myself. Remember the good old days of developing pictures and half of them looked bad. Or am I dating myslef now.

We got our daughter the V-tech Kiddizoom camera. It is the best camera, she takes great pictures with it. Besides the fact that you can take videos, make funny pictures with faces & frames you can use a memory card but don't need to. My daughter has taken over 200 pictures on the internal memory and there was still room for more. Pictures are pretty good quality, not the best but still good enough where you can use them in frames or scrapbooks!! Batteries last long too. Very duarable. Easy to learn to use.

V-Tech camera is perfect for toddler/preschoolers. It has great software to create hilarious pictures( distort face, add a mustache, etc.). It also has a a few games to play, and you can also hook it up to your tv and watch a slide show. My kids love it!

Shop around to find the camera with the case included. We found ours a Target during the holidays.

P.S. Stay away from the Crayola Camera. It's GARBAGE!

While we haven't tried it out yet, we just picked up the V-Tech toddler camera for our son as a gift from the new baby (when he/she arrives.) I looked at a few online and this was available through Toys R Us. It rec'd pretty good ratings. Keep in mind the clarity won't be as good as a normal digital camera, but good enough for a kid.

We have the Vtech Kidizoom. My daughter loves it-has alot of cool features and its been dropped several times and still works great. It holds alot of pictures and we don't use an SD card. I don't think the memory has ever been full, I just transfer them to the computer when I think of it. I would say the pictures haven't been the greatest quality, but she is only 3 1/2.

I was looking for a cheaper option for my other daughter and came across this website-he rates the different kid cameras that are out there... http://zrecs.blogspot.com/2007/11/zrecs-kids-digital-came...

All four of my kids have the Fisher Price one- we love it! Vert, very durable! The only thing I have noticed is sometimes my 3 year old leaves it on and although it shuts off by itself it still uses alot of batteries. My sons' have all been fine, though!

Hi H.!

We got the Fisher Price one . . . The Kid Tough Digital camera. We got it for our son this past Christmas 2007, and he still uses it today. I didn't really know which one to get due to mixed reviews, but it turned out great. It takes some nice pictures, and it holds up well (he's kinda rough with it). He'll turn 5 at the end of August, and it seems to hold his attention (he wants to take pictures of everything). Now I'm considering getting the Kid Tough FP3 player, but the reviews are mixed on that as well . . .

Hope I helped some!
Lynn

What ever you do, do not buy the Disney character cameras they are awful. They pictures are so dark and just turn out horrible. I paid $50.00 for a camera for my daughter that she doesn't even use because it's so bad.

We also got our 4 yr old the V-tech Kiddizoom camera. It has worked great for us. It even has a few video games and the capability to make home videos. What she likes the best is the progeam that comes with the camera where she can edit the pictures she took with funny faces & such. She has had it since last christmas she had dropped it down the stairs and left it outside overnight and it still works perfect.
