Anytime a baby, toddler or child hits their head, you should have them checked by a doc, no matter how small you think it is. Good luck.

My toddler had a run in with a coffee table corner. She developed the same sort of thing - doctor said it was a calcification on the bone from the injury. She had it for at least 1 year, and then I stopped feeling for it. She's 7 now ;)
When in doubt call the doctor, but I suspect it is harmless.
PS - I couldn't see it, just feel it. She had a lump and a bruise for weeks after it happened initially, and the little lump remained invisibly, hard like bone right in the center of the bruise where the corner hit her.
say something to his pediatrician

Isaac had a bump like that on his head from being born (even though he was a c-section, go figure)
Anyway, one of the doctors we saw at a walk in clinic for something else entirely called it a "calcified hematoma" (hematoma is basically a fancy word for bruise!) Told me her daughter had had one just like it and it would go away in about a year. It went away-- VERY slowly, but it was gone by the time he was a year old.
