Breech Baby What You Experienced?

I found out today that my baby boy is breech. I am currently 23 and half weeks along. Was wondering how uncomfortable you were, what you did to try and be more comfortable and if your baby turned or not in time for delivery and if not how did the C-section go? If I do get a C-section if he doesn't turn this will be my first one, my oldest son was a vaginal delivery so I am just a little nervous is all.

I should probably put this in here hahaha, I live in South Korea and I believe all the Chiropractors the army uses are in Seoul and I can't get up there any time soon. Not to mention I don't even know if the army insurance will cover off base chiropractors.

What can I do next?

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am a birth doula, and here's what I would suggest to my clients. First of all, at 23 weeks, there is plenty of time for your baby to turn on his own -- he's got lots of room in there. Some cat-cow stretches might help to get him flipped around if it's causing you any discomfort. Also, there is a chiropractic technique called the Webster Technique that is very successful in getting the baby to turn. The chiropractor does nothing to the baby -- it's all making sure that your pelvis is aligned properly, which also helps in labor and birth. There's a chiropractor in Acton who does this who has an over 90% success rate with this technique. You can also go for moxybustion, which helps babys turn. But really, you don't have to think about doing anything about it until at least 30 weeks or so. My third was transverse up until about 30 weeks, at which point 5 min of cat-cow stretches got him flipped around and vertex, and he stayed that way for the rest of the pregnancy.

You have lots of time....Babies have the ability to turn back and forth all the way up to delivery. Don't worry now. Your doctor will keep monitoring your status. If he is still breech at your due date and you have to have a csection don't be upset. I had to have one because my son stayed breeched..I recovered quickly and he is a busy 3 year old. Time will tell. Be patient and relax! Congrats on baby #2

DD was breech for awhile. She flipped around a lot. She did turn on her own and things were looking good at 39 weeks. But, then she flipped over (face up) and we didn't know it.

I wound up with a c-section after 2 hrs of pushing. I was terrified and SO against having one the whole time. I was sobbing as they took me into the OR but there was no way I was going to get her out on my own.

In hindsight, it was SO EASY. The doctor simply separated my ab muscles, rather than cutting through them. That made recovery very quick, instead of the 8-12 weeks that you normall hear about. I was back to working out by 2 weeks pp, in full force by 4 weeks.

My first was vaginal, and I can honestly say that recovery was less painful and faster with the C section.

I am an L&D nurse.

There is still time for the baby to turn to a vertex position (head down). At 23 weeks there is still plenty of room for baby to jump around and play. Its when you get closer to your due date that being breech makes a difference.

You can also talk to your Dr. about doing a version. Which is manually turning baby by using pressure on the lower and top part of your stomach. Most Dr. do give some type of pain meds/relaxation meds to help you during this and most times it does help. Depending on you and your Dr. once the version is successful and the baby is vertex they may induce you to encourage baby to stay vertex, because baby could turn to a breech presentation again.

ALL OF THIS NEEDS TO BE DISCUSSED WITH YOUR DR.

Hope this helps.

you are way too early to be worried about that? my doc said they dont "worry" until 36 weeks! either way start seeing a chiro that specializes in this. usually baby wont turn (though really you are too early for that!) due to the inability due to the structure so the chiro can fix this 80% of the time, if not the rest are usually cord issues so you may have to have a section. Either way if your doc is already concerned you may want to find a new doc!

There is still lots of time for the baby to turn. My son was breech around the half way mark, and then side ways at my check up the day before he was born. He turned the rest of the way down, no problem. My daughter was face up instead of face down, and when I was in labor with her, they "rolled her over" twice, she wouldn't stay though, that's my stubborn little girl :) I wouldn't worry, you have lots of time. Good luck!

I was 37 weeks with my youngest, and he was completely breech one afternoon - head right between my ribs. Because of, blood pressure issues and the fact that the sonogram showed almost zero fluid - my doctor scheduled a c-section for the next morning. During the night, in the hospital, he turned head down with zero fluid! It was discovered the next morning when they came in at 5 am to prep me for the C. I was induced instead and the little booger is now 9 years old!

Don't stress!!!

Still plenty of time for that baby to flip but no reason you can't be proactive now! Check out the web-site www.spinningbabies.com and find a chiropractor that works with pregnant women and is familiar with the webster technique. All of this will give you the best chance of getting the baby to flip and stay head down.

My baby was breech until 32 weeks....they say that is normal for the baby to turn later. I didn't think so since I was so anxious for her to turn. The doctor did recommend looking up natural ways to turn the baby on your own. I did that... I think I put a warm compress on my lower abdomen and a few other things I can't remember but by the next visit she was positioned the right way. So that is my suggestion to look up some remedies online. I hope your baby turns and you have a good delivery.

When I had my 1st I went in and they said she was fine then a few hours later was ready to push and they said she filliped over. I wouldn't worry since they can move all around.

Your baby will most likely turn. You are not very far along in the grand scheme of things and baby is probably still very, very small. It's really unnecessary to worry so much at this point, you're just stressing yourself out. I'm unsure why you would go to a chiropractor for a breech baby? From what I know Tricare does not cover chiropractors, we don't have any in Europe... but maybe, you never know. That might also depend on if you are active duty or civilian.

Now go relax!

I live at Casey! All the info you need it on my facebook page! It's called pregnant army wives in south Korea! I would get a doula to avoid the nasty c! They are extremely well trained and can help you move the baby every week so you don't need that c section. AND our military doctors suck I wouldn't listen to a word they say until you deliver :)! Let me know if you need anything else I'm the admin on the group! Tons of American doulas around here based on rank pay too!
