I was wondering what anyone thought of Nuby bottles. My sister wants to switch to BPA free bottles and the Nuby Non-Drip bottles are reasonably priced, say they reduce air, BPA free, etc. However, I was reading reviews on Babies-R-Us and most people say they don't care for them b/c of the nipple. She uses VentAir now and I know the nipples are the same size so she could probably interchange them. Evenflo makes a BPA free bottle also and are very cheap. My only concern is that they look quite generic (not that that's a bad thing) and I'd hate to suggest those ones if they don't reduce air, colic, etc. Any comments or advice would be great!!! Thanks!!!

So What Happened?

Thanks to all! Sister decided to go w/disposable liner bottles. The liners are BPA free, they are much, much easier to clean and she won't need as many bottles (just a few should work). She did buy extra nipples though, not to mention the Born Free bottles are great, however it kind of makes me sick that this company (along w/so many others) capitalize on the "baby market" and jack up their prices just because they know they can. C'mon, $20.00 for 2 bottles, ridiculous! But anyway, I really appreciate all of the responses that I've gotten! Thank you!!!!!!!

I switched to BORN FREE and they are Great! they also grow with baby since they sell all compatible parts to turn them into training/sippy cups later on and they are kind of cute.they sell at babies r us, buy buy baby and Whole Foods. I used the Avent bottles with my first, Evenflo Comfi with my second. With my third I had read about the more recent concerns with plastics and recycling numbers and that sort of thing and ended up settling on NUK bottles for her. They are great for a breastfed baby and do have the anti-colic type features. I'm not sure about the price as I only ever purchased 2 or 3 since I primarly nurse.

My advice is to buy a single bottle of the type you'd like to try and see how it works for your nephew. Every child likes something different and some can be quite picky. Once you've determined that he likes the new bottle, then stock up on as many as you might need. My third was happy to suck on the Evenflo bottles, but she couldn't figure out how to make the milk come out. She needed the wider nipple style.

I second the Born Free, we've been very happy with them. Glass bottles are also making a comeback due to BPA concerns.

We just bought the Born Free bottles at BuyBuyBaby and I like them very much so far. We were using the Nuk bottles. I was a little concerned b/c the nipples are pretty different, except that they are both silicone (which is a good thing...very pliable...more like the breast). There's also a lot less leakage out of the sides of her mouth with these bottles...hardly any at all. Only downside is there are about 4 parts in each bottle to clean (air valve, cap, nipple, bottle).

They were $20 for two bottles and they come with slow flow nipples... we had to buy the med flow since our daughter is 5 mos. old. The sales person at the store actually said they jacked the price up on these bottles by $5 ever since that story about BPA came out on the news... figures.
