P.W.
Congrats on the half-marathon!
I am in the market for a BOB Revolution stroller and have two questions.
1. I have a 2 year old and I am training to walk a half marathon in October. I've been finding rougher terrain that my Jeep stroller doesn't seem to be handling (sliding to the side on turns and sliding down when going up hills with lose gravel/dirt) and I'm wondering if the BOB Revolution will handle this terrain better.
2. We are planning to have a second child and I am planning to continue walking a lot, training for more half marathons and finding new trails to explore. Is a used, in good condition stroller of Craigslist going to hold up through this. I'm assuming it's a great, high quality stroller that would last many children and many years, but I don't want to buy one used and end up needing a new one before we are ready to be stroller-less.
One last thing, if you know of another great stroller to look at, please let me know about it too :O)
Thank you!
Congrats on the half-marathon!
Go girl! It's so great you are taking such good care of yourself. I have the BOB Revolution and I LOVE it! Even more importantly my 2 1/2 year old son loves it too. Our BOB has taken quite a beating on recent camping trips and held up like a rock star. I have no reason to believe that a used BOB would not be just as good as a new one. Most people don't leave the walking/running trails. Propper tire maint. is key to happy ownership. The shocks are very good, and are designed to hold up to 75 lbs on a single and 100 lbs on a double, so most people aren't going to be putting a strain on the joints of the stroller or the shocks.
The biggest question is wether to get teh single or the double. I chose the single because we weren't sure if we were having more than one, and the cost difference was pretty high for a maybe. I am now ready for number two and plan to get my little boy excited about riding a bike next summer. If it doesn't work out the way I'd like, I'll be happily scouring Craigslist myself for a double!
Hi C.~
I have a Bob Revolution and I love it. Most of the women I know some of who run a lot have had theirs for years. A friend of mine has had her double for a few years as well. From what I have seen they do hold up. If you want to buy new REI usually has a sale a couple of times a year and you can get it for 20%. If you live in Sacramento a local store Goores always price matches and takes coupons I used the REI one there since I had a gift cards at the store I ended up saving a ton of money.
I don't know anyone who has purchased a BOB from craigslist mostly becuase they seem to sell very quickly. There is another model Phil and Ted that sells a good double it's front and back rather than side by side but if you buy a BOB you should be able to sell it on Craigslist and maybe even buy a double that way since theose seem to be on Craigslist longer.
Best of luck on your runing and search for a stroller!

Hi! Congrats on training to walk a half marathon! Which one are you doing? I have a 7 month old and just started training for Nike in October. I walk as well. Anyway, I have a gently used double jogger that served me well when my twins were young. I now use our BOB single for the baby. If you decide to get a double stroller and are looking at used I would be happy to show you ours. Happy trails!
The BOB, unlike just about everything else manufactured for babies, is a solid, well-built piece of genius. I've been super hard on mine and it handles like a dream. I sometimes stroll our neighbors toddler in their faux BOB and it works OK but a far cry from the real deal. The suspension and quality of materials is what really sets it apart. You cannot go wrong here. Make sure the BOB you buy, since you're looking for used ones, is the model with the swiveling front wheel with optional wheel lock. Also, I do highly recommend you purchase the weather shield for the BOB so rain or wind will stop you from getting out and exercising. I use mine a lot, living in Pacifica. We have the sunguard too, but rarely use it. We also have the Warm Fuzzy and the handlebar console, both are must-haves.
They hold up really well, and you can get replacement parts for them pretty easy at there website if needed. As said in the previous posting, tire pressure is key. We have taking ours everywhere including some trails with no problem. Make sure when you look on craigslist that the BOB Revolution has the rotating front tire, it is supposed to but many people list there other BOB's incorrectly. The rotating tire made a world of difference when we switched over, and it the terain is getting really crazy, it has a feature to lock the wheel. Have fun.
Hi, I looked at the Bob, and saw other people's Bob's when I have been out shopping. After comparing it and the Mountain Buggy, I ultimately chose the Mountain Buggy. Mainly because I didn't like the long(very long) wrist strap(holds it shut when folded) the Bob has and didn't like the area it has for a foot rest in the front for the child. If you look at those two areas and compare the two strollers, the mountain buggy is much nicer. Mountain Buggy is very solid and well made. All metal frame. Their tires are also much nicer. The handlebar is adjustable also. I wanted a solid, well built jogger and I found it. I love my Mountain Buggy. It is light weight and easy to push. It is almost too fast and smooth on any terrain. I have two children and may have one more and I am confident that it will outlast all three and I will still be able to sell it. Oh, and one more thing I didn't want what everyone else had. "Everyone" has a Bob, yes they are well made but the Mountain Buggy is definitely equal if not better in my opinion!
Hi, Don't get the Bob. My son will be two this August and has already outgrown it height-wise. It says it goes to 44inches and my son is only about 36 inches, but his head hits the top of it. I have already adjusted the head panel for more room and it is still to short. The Bob says it goes to 70 lbs, my son is only 30 lbs right now, I don't see how that can happen if he has already outgrown the height. The Valco baby might be better.
