I would probably go and get a nice full length gown that you can wear to different events. After you lose the weight you can take it to a good tailor and have it taken in
Last time I went to this formal, I didn't wear full length, but rather a taistfull and elegant cocktail dress. I was not the only one in cocktail attire. However this year, we won't be invited guests rather, my husband and partner are purchasing a table (its for charity), and we will invite guests to our table. Its at the Ritz Carlton in Dana Point and this time I feel more pressure to "play the part". So what do you think. Do I need to plunk down some cash for a formal full length gown? Normally I'd just do it so I own one. But i"m still 10 lbs away from prepregnancy weight so I'm just not that into it. Even thinking of wearing an old brides maid dress from my closet. What do you guys think?
Okay, you've twisted my arm. Lets go shopping. My husband told me to think of it as a good goal for loosing a few, that I need to look like a trophy wife (he's joking).

Get a nice full length gown, possibly an empire waist so it's not so tight around your waist and still look flattering. That way you can still wear it when you lose those final 10 lbs. I also like the free flowing dresses because you can get away with them while pregnant as well.
Yes. Check around consignment stores, winter sales at Dillards, Craigslist, and Ebay for better deals if it's a matter of not wanting to spend the money on something you don't plan on wearing again. That way you aren't out tons of money but you will still look fabulous!
Totally SPURGE go gown shopping. Forget the 10 pounds (least it's not 50!)!
Oh and the SHOES! And a little CLUTCH!
Oh my Goodness, new hose, new make-up!
(Tehehe, can you tell I don't get out much?)
(Also I think if you wear an 'old bridesmaid' dress, you'll feel like just that)
Go for the GLAM girl!
Have fun.
:)
Old dress is fine, or maybe go look at you local classifieds. Here in Utah we have KSL (a tv station) where they have a HUGE classifieds selection with tons of dresses and what not on there. I would try there if you don't want to pay full price for one.
Oh and I would get a full length dress. Black tie=long dress in my mind.
I would do full length if you are hosting. I would also seriously think twice about an old bridesmaids dress! Check out renttherunway.com for desginer dresses that you can rent for the night...I have never used this myself but I hear good things. Nordstroms also has nice and reasonably priced formal wear.
yes, i think you should. 10 lbs is nothing darling
I would suggest wearing a formal full length gown because you are the one "hosting" the table. Shop at my bridal botique www.Jandrewsbridal.com or check out our friend Linda's formal consigment shop http://www.ledressboutique.com/
This really sounds like a fancy event so you do need to get more glamorous than a cocktail dress. When is the event? Maybe you can start looking now and purchase the dress as you get closer to the event. There are lots of dresses on sale, especially as they are trying to get rid of clothes for the new spring collections and they are bringing in prom dresses. Don't go the bridesmaid route. Very rarely can one pull this off.
Yes, especially if it is at night. Have fun with it and no worries about the 10lbs. I am sure you are beautiful. Your a mom, remember!!!
Have fun!!
full length gown on this one.
if only making your legs warmer! LOL!
