Call a professional. Don't mess with it. Especially since you are trying to sell. You don't want to replace the flooring now. Don't even try to clean it, you may make it worse! Good luck
A friend's one year old got ahold of my Stampin' Up! detail black embossing powder and spilled it on my carpet. I immediately got the vacuum and got up most of it but there are still two big spots. (Of course, I have light tan carpet!!) Has anyone had any experience with something like this? I would appreciate any advice as I'm trying to sell my house and the spots are close to the entry way. Thanks so much for your advice.

I haven't had personal experience with cleaning embossing powder out of carpet, but from using it I know don't get it hot. Don't use a steam cleaner because it will make the powder melt and harden into the fibers. Maybe try cold water and carpet shampoo or Oxiclean powder and suck it up with a shop vac or carpet shampooer. I've had lots of luck with Oxiclean getting all kinds of stains out of my carpet including pizza sauce, dog pee and poop, milk, formula, beer. Good luck. Let us know if you find something that works.
Try hair spray. Not sure if it would work on that, but it can't hurt. Spray it on and blot it, don't rub. If not, you may have to try a professional. Sorry, sounds like a big mess!
the best carpet spot remover product I'm familiar with is FOLEX - I think it's available everywhere now, Home Depot, CVS, Target, etc. -- good luck! (it works for lots of things, but it was recommended to me by an independent carpet cleaner)
I agree with the last lady, don't get it hot. You maybe able to call or email the manufacturer for their advice. I'd love to know what worked for you in the end. I will file this information away because I may need it in the future. Good Luck.
I agree, call the manufacturer to ask their advice. They would be the ones to know exactly how to get it out. If that doesn't work, call a carpet cleaning company and ask for advice or see if they can come and just do a spot removal. That shouldn't cost TOO much I wouldn't think? Especially if you're trying to sell....might be worth it! Good luck.
Nail polish remover or paint thinner would probably do the trick!
I use Shaklee's Basic H cleaner. It works just as good, if not better than Folex and it's NON-TOXIC. Shaklee's Nature Bright Stain Remover is dynamite.....it even gets out iodine! If you want more information, go to: www.shaklee.net/paradise or call M. at ###-###-####.
Good luck!
My favorite ALL TIME cleaner is QuicknBrite (www.quicknbrite.com). I've gotten most carpet stains out with it -- including bicycle grease, pet stains, kid stains (you know, when they're potty training!;)... I've used it for over 15 years and will not be without it. Just follow the directions for spot cleaning. BTW, it's biodegradable and no harmful fumes. I agree with the other posters in NOT getting the stain hot.
Good luck! :)
Two words, Spot Shot. I have a light tan carpet too and that gets 99% of stains off. I've gotten soda (Coke), spaghetti sauce off. The only thing I've had trouble removing with it is coffee. Though it was a whole cup full. Small drops have come off nicely. It left a little bit of a yellow stain. Otherwise, it's awesome. My friends wonder why my carpet is always so clean. That's why. ;-)
FOLEX Instant Carpet Spot Remover is definitely the answer! It removes ink, red wine, pen coffee, etc. Good luck to you.
