Our friend is turning the big 50 next week and is having a party. Would love to hear any suggestions for a funny birthday gift to give him. Thanks!

We love to give scratch off lottery tickets for adult birthdays. It's fun for the person receiving it because there is always the chance of a winner. Honestly, at 50, you already have everything that you want.

My husband is a big subway fan. So when I threw his birthday party he got several gift cards there. He used them :) So if you know what your friend likes get a gift card :)

I turned 50 and the people that gave me the party really enjoyed giving the gag gifts, but I didn't enjoy receving them. I smiled and laughed and thanked them as appropriate, but it was kind of sad.

One person gave me a "real" gift. I was so grateful.

It depends on the friend as to what you should give them, gag gift or real gift. I would suggest real gift.

Good luck to you and yours.

Our friend once received 40 lollipops with the note "40 Sucks!"

Don't know if that's the type of humour in your crowd, but the kids at our party were thrilled when he gave them the lollipops :-)

Hope the party is fun!

I turned 50 in March. I told my husband no gag gifts I was 50 and fabulous lol.

But on to your question if your determined to do the gag routine. they sell all kinds of stuff at party city. fake fire extinguishers to blow out the candles, orange cones that say stuff like old person crossing, t shirts, canes with mirror's and horns etc. but if I was you the gifts that are appreciated the most are gift cards etc or gifts that will actually be used. in this economy its sad to see gifts that will immediately go to a landfill or a garage sale table especially when that kind of stuff is so expensive.

I gave my Dad 50 scratch tickets for his 50th birthday. I think he won $48! But it was fun!

A box of Depends. Or take an OTC medicine bottle and put fake label for "erectile dysfunction" meds and put M&M's or skittles in the bottle. A giant magnifying glass and/or an "extender" for poor eyesight associated with aging.
