We are having a marionette show for my daughter's 7th birthday and will have time for a few games after. Anyone have suggestions for games that can relate to a puppet theme? Something like pin the strings on the marionette, instead of pin the tail on the donkey, but an actual good idea. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

What can I do next?

When my brother was little we did drop the clothes pins in a container while wearing a hand puppet on our hand.

Any type of relay. Maybe they wear a hand puppet, run to a place, then the next person has to put the puppet on before they can go.

Simon Says, but they move like marionettes? Simon says lift your right arm (lift it like a string is attached)

Make a puppet of some sort.

Not related to the puppet theme, but for my son's party a few years ago I wrote clues to lead them to their goody bags. I wrote them on card stock (too thick for the computer) then cut them up into several pieces. The kids had to put the puzzle together, read the clue, then go find the next envelope with the next clue. He said that was his favorite part of the party. :) I did it at the end.

Have fun!!

Thanks so much for the great ideas. We are already doing a short puppet craft before the show, which is why I'm looking for games for after the show ... incorporating puppets somehow (any kind: finger puppets, hand puppets, puppet drawings ...)

For a 7th birthday, why not let them make their own with some pre cut pieces.

Maybe make your own puppet. Get a bunch of things at the craft store and have them do their own thing

I think making marionettes would be a fun idea instead of a game. (Plus, it can count as the favor if you are the type who gives them...)

You could easily make some cheap ones yourself, then let them decorate them with markers, puffy paint, google eyes, pipe cleaners, Pom-poms, etc.

You could hang donuts (or another snack...) from strings, and they have to eat without touching. You can make it fit the theme by decorating the donut to look like a puppet. Lol.

put all the kids in a circle, put a bullseye in the middle (or just an X with tape) and give each one a balloon. Have them blow it up (or help them), don't tie it, but hold it closed. Have each kid one by one let the balloon go and see who gets closest to the target. They really like this one! It's not a theme, but maybe the X in the middle could be a picture of a marionette.

Put about 6-10 things on a tray, let them look at it for a minute. then have each kid write down all the things they can remember. the winner is the person who remembers the most (assuming they can write)
