I use the Potette portable potty. It is big enough for my 3 yr old and it folds and I can take it with me. It is great!

Hi Maria-this is a link to the one we have -it is awesome!
You use gallon ziploc bags (NOT the zipper ones) so each time he goes, you seal it up, toss it into another bag and throw it out. We used this in my suv trunk the firstyear I would say of training an dbeing trained-I was so n ot into public bathroom, especially before hecould stand to pee pee!
I kept baby wipes in one side of the storage poarts and used them to wipe and it also absorbed a lot of the liquid.
Goodluck!
I just bought a folding potty seat at Wal-mart. They had Spider Man and Sesame Street. It fits in a plastic bag in my small diaper bag. We had issues with using public restrooms prior and he wouldn't poop. Now that he has the seat, I haven't had any problems. He'll even ask, "Do you have my seat?" It was about $10 and worth every penny.
Our favorite has always been the car tire:) We have even been able to just squat and poop on several occassions, as long as you have wipes and some baggies you are fine. Boys are the best!
We have used the same travel potty as Debbie K and love it.
Once we went to Busch Gardens with some friends and once the kids saw my daughter using it they ALL (boys and girls)had to sit and go potty on it. LOVE the convenience of the zip lock bags!! NO CLEAN UP afterward!!
Not sure what you mean by travel potty. We pull over and find a tree. For public toilets, I hold him up and aim him.
Any inexpensive potty, prefereably with a lid, should suffice. If you find a used opn, just sanitize before and after he uses it. You'll find, however, that once he pees in the outdoors it's his for life...all boys love that.
