I am trying to buy some comfortable shoes for my daughter that will let her feet breathe and allow her to run around. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

For a toddler I like athletic sandals with a covered toe. It is good for them to have stable footing when they are still learning to balance and do a lot of things.

Crocs. Even if you think they are hideous, you will grow to love them... easy to put on, they can get wet, they can be worn with or without socks, toes are covered, they are stable and easy to wear.

My son got blisters from a pair of knock-off Crocs -- but the brand name ones have never given him any trouble. I would go to a children's shoe store to get them fitted right. They will look a little bigger than you think they should, but that's how they are supposed to be. My son wears them exclusively from the day it's warm enough to the day it's too cold!

In my home daycare I tell parents something like this. Whatever brand..I could care less. This is just the first picture I found when I goggled it. I think they are considered athletic sandals, with a covered toe? Look like cut open tennies to me! LOL

http://adventure.nationalgeographic.com/gear-guide/keen-k...

Usually they have velcro closures or some have the bungee tighteners, they cover the heels and toes, but have those cut outs to keep the feet cooler. They stay on and offer protection for the feet. I have woodchips in my playground area and no one wants one of those stabbing into their feet between their toes and the shoe sole! They can run, they can get a bit wet if the grass is wet, they can climb. Just over all best.

I do not allow flip flops, etc on little ones, and socks in tennies get yucky and sweaty and dirty. Its easier for us to removes our shoes, dip our feet in a cool bucket of water and wipe them dry before we come back into the house to nap.

My kids are all age 4 and under in my daycare.

Crocs!!! Since my son was 2 that is all he has worn in the summer. I tried to buy him other sandals and shoes before but always go back to crocs. Now I just buy 2 pairs (to have different colors- 1 pair would do) for the summer and don't bother with trying to find others.

We spend ALOT of time at the ball park (read every weekend and 2-3 nights during the week) and when my daughter was two, we bought the sandals with the closed toe (I think we bought the target brand). I loved them because her little toes were covered and protected, but she was able to stay cooler than wearing socks and tennis shoes.

My daughter has always been very active. At the beginning of each summer I buy her a decent pair of sport sandals. She can run around on the playground or the beach with them on, and I don't have to worry about them slipping off her feet. A lot of them have a rubber piece going across/covering the toes in the front, so if she trips she doesn't stub her toes. I think the brands we have bought are Timberland, Buster Brown and Stride Rite.

I'd get sturdy sneakers.

Stride Rite sandals. They stay on. So better than flip flops.

Having said that, son likes flip flops too. But they are the good kind w/a good sole & decent support. Can't remember the name right now.

We, also, keep the tennis shoes for the times he needs covered feet (bike riding, walking, taking a mini little walk in the country (he thinks he's hiking).

Crocs! My son is 2 and that is all he wants to wear and he can take them on and off himself (which may not be a good thing for some moms). I even had to buy him the winter ones with the fleece lining. I'm actually going to buy him a new pair for Disney. For my daughter, she likes the maryjane looking crocs.

I also say Keens or Crocks, thats all my daughter wears, more often she is bare foot though ;) I also love the salt water sandals, but they don't have much grip on the bottom, sadly!

I buy my daughter fisherman sandals from stride rite (Cozumel is the name I believe) and Keen waterproof sandals (Whisper this year, but have tried the Zuma...like them all). These two styles give choices for every occasion and the shoes are well made.

Saltwater sandals, by far. They are waterproof, they last forever and are super cute. I don't like the crocs because they are rubber. I hate rubber shoes for myself so I will not get them for my kid.

My first answer is crocs! We all love them and have multiple pairs. I also just found this other brand that is cute and comfy like crocs: Native brand. They are same material as crocs....and I found them for $15 at marshalls! Happy shopping!

we have a lovely pediatric foot dr in our building. he always recommends the 'sturdiest shoes' you can get at this age. Nothing flimsy.

I like Keen Newport H2s for my kids. They are sandals, but have covered toes and backs. My kids both say that they are really comfortable without any breaking in.

I used to buy my daughter cuter, cheaper sandals, but she would say they were uncomfortable or they would fall apart before the end of summer.
