Hello :)
My son is 7 months now, and he stage 3 Pampers (12 hr.) diapers. Hes very mobile, and he usually doesnt need a diaper change until its really ful. but lately i've been noticing that pampers really does sag alot when its wet. I've tried huggies when he was younger (stage 1) and i did not like it at all. I wasn't sure if it was because the diaper was too small for him, or if it just sucked. but it would leak number 1 and 2. (if you now what i mean) So im skeptical to trying huggies again. What are your suggestions?! Money is tight (isnt it for all of us) so i cant be spending too much on a expensive brand. But i would like to know what you guys think!

What can I do next?

I always bought to generic brand, whether at target or rite aid or longs. I found them FAR superior to the national brands! They are much lighter on the pocket book too.

Hi,

if you are a Costco member, try their Kirkland brand diapers. They are definately cheaper than Pampers or Huggies, and I personally think that they are better qualities as well. When my daughter was little, my nanny used both Pampers and Kirkland on her, and told me that Kirkland was better because Pampers got so saggy and heavy after use. Kirkland has become my daughter's favorite brand. Good luck.

In my experience, the best way to keep a diaper from sagging is to change it frequently. I use huggies snug and dry. I know you said you don't care for them, since your son had blowouts early on, but I know my babies had blowouts all the time in the first few months, since they basically have liquid poop. Just keep him dry, and you should have no problems.

You should be changing him after EVERY pee pee or BM. Not just when it's full. This should solve your sagging problem.
We always bought the cheapest diapers. Since they will be thrown away after a "movement", it doesn't matter.

"doesn't need a diaper change until it's really full." change him sooner. i never had a problem with "saggy" diapers unless i had let him go too long. and i used store brands. pampers and huggies are the top of the line, there's nothing wrong with them. try changing him more often. hope that helps....

Up & UP (Target Store Brand). I started using these when my son was about 1.5 and loved them so when our daughter was born I kept with them. We are now potty training her and expecting our 3rd so again it will be the Target Store Brand. They are much less expensive & work great!

I am a little concerned about "doesn't need a diaper change until its really full" you need to change your child more often, its not how much can the diaper hold until I change it...I have 3 kids, I have worked at 2 day care centers, I have also baby sat in my home...usually the longest my younger ones go is 2 hours between changing. That being said I use Luvs, but I do think the custom fit cruisers ( I think that is Pampers brand) are nice.
Not changing diapers regularly can lead to rash and infection.

YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR SONS DIAPER MORE OFTEN! Stop being lazy...instead of wasting time trying to find a better diaper spend that time putting your child in clean pants! A clean diaper EVERY time he wets or has a BM! You are lucky he does not have horrid diaper rashes.

I also had leak problems every time I tried huggies. I ended up with Luvs- they are fine. BTW just cause they say 12 hr doesn't mean you should leave them on that long- more meaning they can make it through the night without a change. When they sag- change them. I also cloth diapered my second from the time she was a year old until she potty trained (just before her second birthday- her idea). I am thinking about switching to cloth now that my son is having solid food BM's so they can be flushed before washing the diapers. I started trying them because she had extremely sensitive skin and got diaper rashes a lot. It only helped a little with the rashes, but I was tired of buying diapers all the time so I kept using them. Cloth was really no big deal once I got a routine down and my daughter potty trained so easily because she could tell when she peed- the super absorbent diapers wick it away so quickly that they don't even notice it.

I use LUVs for both of my kids. I've tried pampers and huggies, but wasn't too impressed. LUVs works the best!

Hi R. D. I'm J. Knisley. I have a one year old son who I am having the same problem with. I know you are skeptical about the huggies brand, but I would suggest trying the Pull-Ups Training Pants made by Huggies. I use them for my son and i found that if you use the night time training pants, they tend to hold more. As well as that, Huggies Pull-Ups Training Pants have the velcro sides so when it is time to change him, I simply open the velcro and throw it in the garbage. My som wears the 2T-3T size training pants. So get the size that would be appropriate and give it a try. But remember to get the night time trainers. I hope this was of some use to you. GOD BLESS!

I tried pampers and didn't like them, but my sister only used pampers. I prefer huggies. I have also found that some store diapers are wonderful. i use the walgreens brand diapers and never had a problem. They have 2 different packages, and i know that a few people didn't have good luck with the regular white and red package, but did wonderful with the premium green package.

If you have any friends, see if you can borrow a few diapers from someone so you don't have to spend out money on diapers that don't work for you.

I use Luvs size 4 for my daughter and they sag a lot as well, but are much cheaper than Pampers. I tried Huggies before too and they leaked a ton, which a lot of other people say as well. I just deal with saggy Luvs.

Cloth are the best...in every way. Only difference - one goes in the wash and you reuse. The other goes in the ever expanding landfill and you have to use your hard earned money to buy more. Cloth...you reuse and save $$$ and help the planet too. Baby doesn't have that 'plastic chemically' stuff next to bottom all day and no 'saggy bottom baby' either!

I have two kids and used cloth for both!

I recently changed to Huggies little movers for this same problem. I had used the Huggies snug and dry when my kids were tiny but they started getting really bad rashes so i was skeptical about using a huggies brand again but I love the little movers (no more sagging and no more rashes which they had been getting from the new pampers as well)

To throw a wrench in the mix, you all need to be aware of the chemicals that are being used in the disposable diapers with Pampers Ultra Max causing severe burns and rashes and raising the levels of several metals in their bodies which in turn will cause behavioral problems and other issues. I personally, with what I know now, would be using natural diapers and feminine products as well. You know how they get everything all white as well?

I use huggies and absolutely love them. I've tried all the different diapers and huggies won out. You can always go parent's choice which is basically the same thing but generic and they're at walmart or kirkland which is also the same but generic at costco. i've never had a better diaper. My son who is now 14 months old has been using them since he was born. I hope that helps.

hi...if you decide to continue using disposables I completely agree with above suggestions of changing him more frequently (at his age at least every 3 hours). But this will also be more costly as you will be using more diapers. I wanted to suggest cloth. The 'new' cloth diapers are super easy to use (like disposables) come on tons of colors and styles, are bette for baby, and can save you a ton of money! If you buy now you won't have to buy anymore and it could save you $2000 or more! I'm more than happy to answe questions you may have about cloth (i have been happily clothing my almost 2 year old since 6 months) ____@____.com

Hi there,
I just went through this same thing. I used Pampers without any problems with my first daughter. I did not have the big sagging diaper problem that I have now with my second daughter. For some reason now, Pampers sag really badly. I figured that I would try Huggies. The Huggies do not sag as bad but the actual material quality is not nearly as good as the Pampers. The Huggies have been falling apart, they break sometimes, the diaper filling comes out... It is odd. Maybe I got a bad batch of diapers??? The biggest thing though is that Huggies seem to be making her red. I never had that problem with Pampers. I am going to go back to Pampers and deal with the sag.

The best diaper is whatever fits your kids shape of butt. That is why there are so many brands out there and many of them are successful, because there are several butt-shapes out there. What is great for one may suck for another. I say trade a few brands among your mom-friends and see if you can figure it out for your boy.
