Belly Skin!

Has anyone had success with glycolics or retin a as far as stretch marks go? Mine are already faded so they are not "new," I don't even mind the larger ones but all the little clustery ones give my lower belly a horrible texture. I have 3 kids and I got all of these with my first two, about 5 years ago. Also when I am on hands and knees like doing planks (or other things lol) there is a part of my belly that just hangs down and its gross! I don't have a lot of weight I can lose, maybe 3 or 4 pounds but any more than that and I would get into the "too thin" range. I already do a lot of tummy toning and have a "two pack" as far as abs go but the lower belly still looks bad. Does anyone have any "secret miracles" that will help this skin that have actually helped for them? If I continue to tone will it change anything or is this just the tummy I am stuck with? There are so many things that supposedly help on the internet but it is impossible to know which really work and which are scams.

Sorry, nothing will work except a tummy tuck. The skin just got too stretched out from the pregnancies.

Hi Robin,

I was back to normal weight soon after my delivery, however, I also had a small amount of loose, crepey and wrinkly looking skin (with no stretch marks.) I tried the TITAN laser for three treatments. I loved the results so much I can wear a bikini again without worrying about how I might look if I move the "wrong" way. Some people believe that the THERMAGE laser for the body works even better. I had my procedure performed at Skin Perfect in Whittier ###-###-####. Ask specifically for Arron and mention that E. referred you.

I hope this helps!

Robyn I have the very same problem. My belly is pretty tone but that skin there just won't get tone. Some days it looks toner than others but then I do the planks and my belly hangs, I just hate it. I have heard all different things from mini tummy tuck to just working out like crazy. I think I have come to the conclision of just learning to live with it and stay covered up. Iwsh there was a simple answer because I would be on it, but I guess there really is not. We are all beatiful no matter what, it is a result of mommyhood and we love it!! Good luck and God Bless!

Strivectin SD used to be available by Rx only, now available OTC. Very pricey, but does work, also works on wrinkles. (This is what the Plastic Surgeon that I worked for recommended for this problem with patients that were not candidates for surgery.) I actually saw it for sale at Costco recently for a reasonable price for the size of the bottle ( i think around $130).

Different people will give different answers. My friend who worked for a plastic surgeon claimed the ONLY way to lose the flap and marks was a tummy tuck, but i also had friends who were huge workout fanatics and fitness trainers and they swear by their techniques (and it shows)
so it really depends on how you wanna go by it. personally i would never get unnecessary surgery for fear of something going wrong (my friends mother spent thousands on plastic surgery and most of it was botched)
i would try anything that isnt expensive, especially working out. Pilates is WONDERFUL. anything that tones the belly area. Ive heard great things about that crazy super fast workout, i forget what its called!!

good luck! im still working on it myself!

Well, I don't really have a solution for you, but I definitely sympathize. Everything you described is how my stomach is!! I haven't tried anything that's expensive, however I plan to try Mederma for stretchmarks. I just saw a commercial for it recently. Mederma is already known for decreasing scars, so I'm excited about the possibilities. According to Mederma, in a recent clinical study, 80% of participants noted visible improvement in the appearance of their stretch marks after using Mederma Stretch Marks Therapy for 12 weeks. It's available from CVS for $40. That seems expensive to me for just a tube, but I plan to splurge and give it a try. Other than that, I don't know any other solution. Although, I may take the advice of Bobbi H. and try Strivectin SD ($130!? OUCH!!).

I have heard that there is nothing that can actually get rid of the stretch marks. I tried so many things and wasted so much money before I learned that. I have had stretch marks since I was a teen - my skin just isn't elastic, and would love a way to get rid of them, but was told I had to learn to live with them, sorry.
