I am moving to Keller in the upcoming months and have a baby due in Sept. I'm planning to deliver at Baylor in Grapevine. I'm looking for ANY feedback for the hospital and/or doctors, staff, etc. there.

What can I do next?

T.,

I delivered at Baylor Grapevine in December. I had a great experience there! My doctor was Thomas Vaughan with North Texas Womens Healthcare. I liked him and he knew his stuff, but he's not very personable. I've heard a lot of good things about Dr. Julia Flowers, who is very hard to get into. But, the staff is great at Baylor and it's a very nice hospital. I will definitely deliver there again! I have a really great pediatrician too! His name is Dr. Benzick. His office is in Southlake. He is the best! Well, hope this helps! Good Luck!

T.,

Baylor Hospital in Grapevine is a wonderful facility with a highly professional and genuinely caring staff. I am also an expectant Mom (child #2) due July 18th. I will be delivering at Las Colinas Medical Center in Irving; however, my OB referred me to a group of Perinatal Specialists whose practice is based at Baylor Grapvine (Dr. Jack M. Graham and Dr. Greald R. Payne)in order to address some special concerns which arose early in my pregnancy. They were wonderful! If I did not have such a wonderful OB, I would definitely have chosen this facility.

Hope this helps to ease some of your concerns.

Sincerely,

Moya

I work at Baylor Grapevine in the lab. I also had my baby, who is now 17 months, here last January via c-section, so I was here for about 5 days. The staff is great and the food is too! :) I would totally recommend this hospital and if/when you're in the area, look me up! Also, you can take a tour of the 2nd floor (l&d, nursery, mom&baby units) whenever you'd like. Hope this helps!

They are WONDERFUL! I had my daughter there almost a year ago and we had the BEST experience. Our OB is Dr. Rost who's office is at the hospital...also WONDERFUL. The hospital staff was extremely nice and very helpful...made me feel very comfortable. We have a large circle of friends and family and they were great with us having a crowded room for visitors after she was born. The only negative I had was not enough help with breastfeeding...you may need to ask for help as the nurse who was to help was extra busy and didn't really get to me much...other than that it was a wonderful experience. Best of luck to you!

I had both of my children (ages 5 & 2) in baylor at grapevine. The staff was very nice and took great care of me and my children. I have a few tips though.. if you have a "birth plan" let them know so YOU can make as many decisions as you want! I did not get to watch my children being born as they did not offer me the mirror (both were very fast deliveries, but none the less... they didn't TRY to make it special!)... the children were NOT placed on my tummy for me to see... Just let them know what YOU WANT... once the babies were born my nurses were GREAT.. they were great while in labor too, just a little dissapointed in the actual BIRTH! ALSO... when you get billed, even if you insurance pays for most of it.. get a DETAILED print out of what you were charged for! My daughter was born within 15 min of arriving at hospital.. they tried to bill me for PAIN medication which i did not recieve (i asked for it but then they realized how far i was and there was no time).. i was also billed for 4 iv bags (very expensive for saline water! over $100) which I only had ONE bag... and billed for pitocin (obviously didn't have if I delivered in 15 min!) and a nausea medication which I did not have! I was told that some of these things are standard when a women USUALLY is in labor and delivery, but I did not have them so they were probably ordered but then not taken off of my bill... I had to stay on top of them and refuse to pay for something I didn't get but ended up not having to pay for the things I did not use! The billing department was what I had the biggest problem with. We are trying for #3 and have decided on using a midwife (which is 250% different!!!!) and having a home birth! I also reccomend using a doula that can help to make sure you and your husbands wishes are fullfilled as best that can be and provide you both with support! Good luck withyour upcoming delivery !! IF I used a hospital again, I would use Baylor... the nurses were wonderful, just watch out for the billing and have a birth plan so the KNOW what your wishes are!

Hi T., this is Elaine. I have heard wonderful things about Baylor Hospital lately. One of our neighbors close by works there. I'm not sure what her position is. She did mention that it was an excellent facility though. I could put you in touch with her if you'd like.
ok-- let me know.

I had my first child at Harris Methodist downtown Fort Worth. And my Second Child at Baylor Grapevine. The treatment was as diffrent as night and Day. Harris Methodist treated me badly the labor nurse yelled at me durring the whole time I was in labor. The after care was almost non existent. Baylor treated me very well the entire time! The staff is great and recover care you almost feel like your geting pampered. If I ever get to have another child I will go to Baylor Grapevine. My cousin also went to Baylor and she loved it too.

If intreted Baylor Grapevine has a swim exercise program for expectant mothers. Talk to your ob.

T., I delivered my three boys at Bylor Grapevine. I had all positive experiences there. I had Nurse Fatma for my last two deleveries. She was so loving and sweet. My OB is Dr.Cowen and he is awesome! The delivery rooms are a good size and the new post partum rooms (I was in for my third son) are really large and nice.

All 3 of my kids were delivered there. The hospital is well-equipped to handle any emergencies and has a level III NICU staffed by Baylor University Medical Center neonatologists and nurse practitioners. The ob's that I've heard good things about are Wai, Rost, Flowers, and Clark. For Peds, I use the Askari/Tran group in Grapevine/Irving. Postpartum care by the nurses was okay...nothing to brag about although they have been trying to use less agency nurses. Many hospitals use a number of agency nurses and I feel this compromises the quality of care sometimes. The only downside about Baylor Gpv is that it has one of the highest C-section rates in the metroplex (it's like about 35%). I'm not sure why...that is something you may want to talk to your OB about. All-in-all, it is a good hospital.
