Hey Everyone,

Has anyone had an experience with Dr. New at baylor grapevine? I am wanting a natural childbirth, and just wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with him. Has he allowed a doula? Does he push for induction at 40 weeks? Thanks in advance! Any feedback will help :)

What can I do next?

I had Dr. New and a doula. It was a great experience and I love Dr. New. He was very patient and very hands off. Years ago, he was actually a back up OB for a home birth center - I feel like he really understands what women say when we say we want a natural birth.

I had all three of my babies with Dr. New at Baylor Grapevine and I had great experiences. I appreciatead the hands off nursing post delivery because I wanted that special bonding time with my newborn .. but that may not be what everyone wants.

Good luck and Congratulations!

let me start by saying I LOVE Dr New. He delivered both of my babies, and I went natural both times. I didn't have a doula, but he was very open to letting me do what I wanted ( and so was Baylor). He talked about inducing me prior to 40 weeks bc I was measuring big, but he gave me a choice. I chose not to be induced, and delivered my 9 pound baby drug free. I highly recommend Dr. New. He is probably the only doctor I have ever gone to that actually takes the time to talk to his patients and answer any questions they have without pushing them out the door to go to the next one (plus you get a sonogram at every appointment).

I have no comments on your chosen doctor, but I do have some on your hospital.

I have nothing but WONDERFUL things to say abou the day staff of the L&D section of this hospital. I could not have had worse "help" during the evening/overnights (on my last night 3d-2n). I do not want you to think you made a poor choice in hospitals by any means - just do not allow lack of help in the evenings to happen to you, you are in the hospital to recover, allow yourself to recover.

I don't know about Dr. New, but Dr Livers is in the same practice (he was my OB) and I had a natural childbirth with a Doula at Baylor Grapevine. I had to push back a little to avoid induction, but all in all I really liked Dr. Livers.
