Baby Hair Gel?

I LOVE to spike my 9 month old sons hair and this might "sound silly" but I've been using Aquaphor Baby lotion. It does the trick and I know it's gentle enough for a baby but it doesn't last long (maybe 1 hour) probably because it's lotion and not a hair product, lol. I want to use something gentle enough, yet effective all day on his hair. Can someone recommend something to me IE: gel, mousse, etc.. I don't want anything that would bother his eyes when it's washed out...

What can I do next?

Kristy,

The Original Little Sprout has a great line of kids' hair products.

http://www.originalsprout.com/

I've been using them on my son since he was 8 months old. They are a bit pricey, but the gel lasts a long time. They also have a mousse and balm that are nice. I use the balm in my own hair.

After reading these other suggestions, I think I'll try something else since they all seem cheaper. :)

Good luck!

My daughters hair is curly (and a bit frizzy) so I just wet her hair and use regular Suave hair gel in it. I've been putting stuff on her hair since she was about one, when he curls first started coming in (she looked like grandpa from the munsters, curly on the sides and hardly anything on the top! lol).

This is a really cute line of kid products. They have gel, mousse, shampoo, etc. I actually found it in a magazine, Kelly Ripa uses it to spike her kids hair!!!

My son is 2 and I have been spiking his hair since his first haircut when he was 14 months old. I took him to Cartoon Cuts in the Wellington mall and they used a product by Magical Potions, a line of styling products just for kids. It's called Abracadabra Magic Gel. It's $8.49 for a bottle of it at Cartoon Cuts. I love it and have never had a problem with it bothering his eyes at bath time.

I can't remember the name of it, and the bottle is somewhere in my car. I've been using it in my sons hair since he was 6 months old. I love the spikes, and a mohawk is so much fun. Anyways, you get it at Sally's beauty supply, it's an Aveda knockoff, and it's alcohol and fragrance free. It's in a clear bottle. I know this is kind of vague, but the sales girl should be able to help you. My son has very sensitive skin, and this has never bothered him. It also lasts for hours, and it's only $5. Hope this helps.

I have been spiking my sons hair since he was 4 months old. He is 2 now. I just used one of my spray gels. Mine is "L.A. Looks Fine Mist Spray Gel", but you could use anything. I don't think you have to worry about it buring his eyes, I have never had a problem. I wet his hair a little (not too much) then spray the gel into my hand and spike away. Very simple, takes me like 30 seconds. And it stays almost all day. If it needs to be refreshed, all you have to do is put a little water in your hands and spike it again. Good luck.

Kristy,

One of the other responses gave you a link to Cozy Cuts for Kids in New York. There is actually a similar place around here called Cool Cuts for Kids. I've taken my son there several times (MAKE AN APPOINTMENT if you are going to have your son's hair cut, trust me on that one) and he loves it. They do offer kids styling products, also, and you don't have to wait or pay for shipping. There are two locations here in Central Florida (Sanford and Kissimmee) and one in Tampa. The website is coolcuts4kids.com. The ladies there are nice and quick which is key for little kids.

I know Great Clips has some hair gel for kids, my husband always wanted to gel up our little one's hair, but we never actually bought it, so I don't know how well it lasts. Good luck.

You could use plain aloe, my husband does sometimes. It works pretty good, not quite as good as actually hair gel. I actually got the idea because the bottle I had once actually listed that as a use for it! I think that would be pretty safe! Have fun!
