Ranger Freeman makes me think of free range. Somewhere along the line someone will think of calling him it and I wouldn't want that for a son of mine.

We are expecting our 3rd and it's a boy. Our other two children have family names, and we would like to keep the tradition. We are thinking of using a greatgrandmother's maiden name as a middle - Freeman. So I need a first name to go with it. The only name I keep coming back to is Ranger...but my husband isn't convinced. I also like Jack...husband outright doesn't like that one! So what do you think of
Ranger Freeman
Jack Freeman
OR do you have any suggestions????? The more offbeat the better...

I'm into Jack these days. Ranger feels like it's trying a little too hard.
Just my opinion, go for the name you like best.
p.s. I know some Jacks, and as far as I know they are not teased.
I have 3 boys...Liam, Jack, and Ryan. So, I like Jack. How about Chase Freeman, Logan Freeman, or Parker Freeman?
Well,, you asked. I don't like Ranger. Sounds like a pet or cartoon character. However, I love Jack. I picked Jackson/Jack as my boy names. But I am not offbeat. If you like the R sound, wny not Reginald (Reggie), Ronald (Ron), Richard (Richie), Raymond (Ray)??
LOVE Freeman as a middle name (we do the same with maternal maiden names, so I'm biased).
If you want offbeat ... go OLD or go international. Storm & Wulf are examples of both.
I have to agree... in my platoon... your son would first have been called freerange (because *no one* with the first name ranger would be left alone... what's your middle name, son?... and then variations on the word chicken (or eating, typically sexual references) until one stuck..Frats would be even worse.
I like them both!! Hopefully the name Jack will grow on your husband because you both want to adore the name you guys chose.
I also like Benjamin Freeman.
Ben Freeman sounds so masculine but so do Ranger & Jack!
I like:
Hunter Freeman
Carson Freeman
I have always like the name Cannon for a boy.
I like Jack. I also like Jake. Parker and Riley sound good with Freeman, too.
I like boy names of Grayson, Hayden, Patrick, and James but just my opinion. I used to like the name Triston when Brad Pitt was in that movie oh what was the name The Legends or something but now it doesn't seem as appealing...the name is fine its just not my cup of tea anymore I guess. Whatever you decide I'm sure it will be just fine ;())
Jack Freeman is good, I don't like Ranger as a first name at all.
I do like freeman as a midle name.
Here are a few I thought of:
Landon
Joseph
Hudson
Wyatt
Davin
Carson
Good luck! Let us know what you decided.
Please don't use Jack! The boys will tease him horribly!
How about Ryder Freeman? I think it flows a little smoother than Ranger.
I like Denise P's idea for Parker Freeman!
I don't care for Ranger at all. Jack is fine, but pretty trendy, and if you're leaning toward offbeat, I don't think Jack fits the bill.
The first name that popped into my head is "Miles Freeman". I really like that. I seem to be leaning toward a 1-syllable first name to go with Freeman as the middle, but it would also depend on how long your last name is. Good luck!
I prefer Jack.
I also suggest:
Riley Freeman
Parker Freeman
Nolan Freeman
I know someone with each of these names.
Ashton or Asher
Rhett
Chase
Carson
Wyatt
Landon or Landen
Tucker
Gavin
Ayden or Aiden
Whatever you do choose, I wish you luck and many blessings.....
Ranger sounds like a dog's name - sorry. I'm not crazy about Freeman as a middle name either, but to each their own. I don't see anything wrong with Jack - if I had a son that was one of the names I would have considered and it's really not "offbeat" at all. I guess I am more conservative and traditional when it comes to boys' names - I keep picturing them on medical school diplomas or being named Supreme Court justices. Not that the same does not hold true for girls as well.
I like Jack and Jake. but the name that popped into my head immediatly was Seth...Seth Freeman. I think a short name sounds best with Freeman. I don't like to have two names that both have the 'n' sound and so many names that i like have that. and i too don't care for Ranger. Good luck sweetie!
I really like Jack Freeman.
What about Richard?
I don't like Ranger...do like Jack. I also agree that Freeman makes a nice 1st name.
Levi Freeman
Axel Freeman
Bon Freeman
Greyson Freeman
Tripp Freeman
Ryder Freeman
Chase Freeman
Chance Freeman (I knew of twins who were names Chase and Chance)
Wyatt Freeman
Mordecai Freeman (hey you wanted offbeat! lol)
Hope this helps.
Sorry, but I don't care for either one, either. Per first names. But like the middle name.
What about:
Xander
Luka
Henry
Conner
Marlow
I like the Freeman part, that's really cute. Ranger could grow on me, but at first it sounds kind of contrite. Not sure...
Here are some I like with Freeman-
Sawyer
Andrew
Geoffrey
Lucas
Atticus
Xavier
Jessup
Everett
Wow! I like them both! Hard to choose between the two...I guess if I have to choose I would go with Ranger!
I also have always liked:
Wylie
Tripp
Coop/Coup
Chord
Good Luck! Naming them was THE hardest part for me!
How about Freeman as the first name? I like that!
I don't care for ranger. I do like jack. Another mama said ryder freeman. Luv that! I do agree also about using for the first name. My sons middle name is hunter and we havnt ran into many named that.
Good luck!
