We need to have our attic insulated, and I am strongly against letting my husband do it. I would appreciate any recommendations for insulation services/handyman, etc. We're in Naperville. Thanks!

What can I do next?

My husband did ours as well. He used a protective mask and gloves. He and my father in law finished it in less than two days. Depending on how handy your husband is--it can save you lots of money. Also, new insulation is more environmentally friendly than the old stuff if that's what you're concerned about. Sorry I don't have any referrals. Good luck!

Hi A.. My dad works for an insulation company. It's called American National Insulation. Their phone # is ###-###-####. They've been in the Chicagoland area for 35+ years and my dad has worked for them for 25+. In fact, they are going to be redoing my attic this month. Hope this helps.

Unless your husband has some exceptional health problems, it's really not that hard to do. Wear gloves, long sleeves and pants, and throw it all in the washing machine when you're done. My wife and I did it in the space of an hour or so, and most of the time was set-up and clean-up.

(This is the "rolled" insulation. The blown stuff is trickier and needs special equipment and handling.)
