Last year, everyone I knew who got pregnant between August & October had/are having girls. People I know who got pregnant November to January are having boys & February to now, girls. Is there a certain time of the year one is conceived or is it just coincidence?

What can I do next?

It's just coincidence.

Hospitals do have "runs" (like more girls this week, or 3 babies with kidney problems), but the hospital down the road will be having a run on boys or babies with heart problems. It all evens out.

Mmmm.... I should edit just a bit. When it's NOT coincidence it's time to MOVE. I won't list out all of the tetrogens that can affect sex or create physical problems... but when stats really DO change it's typically because of a major pollutant (hormones, toxins, radiation, etc.) in the ground water or air.

Just coincidence.

I taught preschool and kindergarten for a total of about 5 years. The kids birthdays were always spread out fairly evenly between boys and girls each month or group. Enough that it was clearly random - no relation between time of year and gender.

I think that's a myth just like if you do it in different positions that insures a certain sex. I think you get what you get!

No.
It is coincidence.

Both my kids were born later in the year, and I have a boy and a girl.

I don't know about the gender of children and time of year but I did hear about a study that was done years ago.
The study found that sunshine was an aphrodisiac especially for women. Kind of explains spring fever and the urge to find a spring/summer romance. The study went on to say that babies concieved in late summer to early fall would be born in early spring to early summer and thus be healthier. The weather would be warmer and the baby would have less chance of catching a virus because of all the sunshine and warm weather.
This study was done in the '70's and the thought was that before modern heating systems and modern medicine the sunshine effect was a way to produce healthy children.
I know off subject but I thought it was interesting.

I do not know the answer to this question but just wanted to chime in, that all 4 of my boys were born within 2 weeks of each other in October AND 2 of them are my Stepsons! My husband always jokes that it must be the after effects of all the eggnog he has during Christmas!

Our 1 and only daughter was born in Feb....we all joked (before she arrived) that she must be a she b/c she didn't have an October b-day! :)

So all 5 of my kids fit your theory!

Me and another girl I know have the exact same due date (July 6th) and she is having a girl and I'm having a boy so I don't think that has anything to do with it.

according to the Chinese calendar. And yes someone else mentioned it, but they also mentioned that their friend had both a boy and a girl in the same month. While obviously the Chinese calendar isn't always correct because people do have boy/girl twins and heck nothing is perfectly accurate, it goes by your age AND the month you conceive, so at age 28 you may have a girl if you conceive in Feb. but at 30 you may have a boy even if you conceive at the same time. And hey it's been right for everyone I know several times over.
And if you are really trying and want to up the odds of getting a specific gender, it can't hurt

Well, according to the chinese calendar yes. I don't buy into all of that but I was curious before I had my sonogram done to see what gender the baby was and according to their calendar it was going to be a girl. Sure enough, the next day the Dr. said it was a girl. Oh, and I conceived in October!

According to the chinese calendar, yes there is. However, I don't believe in the chinese calendar. It goes by your age and the month of conception and it will tell you what you will have. If you want to check it out google chinese gender calendar. My friend had both her girl and boy in February, so she conceived at the same time.

This fits for me, too. With my son, I got pregnant in January and with my daughter, I got pregnant in August. It's probably just a coincidence though. I am pregnant now - got pregnant in February - but it's too early to tell the sex.

The year I had my son, almost everyone I knew who had a baby had a boy. The year I had my daughter most of the people I knew who had babies, had girls. Now, it seems to be going back the other way and most of the people I know who are pregnant or just had babies have had boys.
