My dad just called me and said that he wants me to make some appetizers tonight for his new years party. He said there will be about 30 people and would like 8-10 different things. He would like them to mainly be finger foods. I need some ideas :) I would like them to be quick and easy to make and he is giving me $40 to go get the ingredients.

So far I have:
meat and cheese tray
taco dip ( I know not a finger food)
Ham roll up ( Ham, pickle and cream cheese)
blt roll ups
veggie pizza

If you have any ideas that would be great! Im tired of looking through all the recipes on food.com

The pigs in a blanket someone else suggested are easy, but I would do them with the "little smokies" sausages... very quick and easy to do.... wrap the sausage in 1/2 a canned biscuit... cook for about 10 min on a lightly greased cookie sheet.

Also, the lil smokies in barbecue sauce in a crock pot are great, too.

OMG....I have THE best bruschetta recipe. It'll take about 30 minutes to make, but SO worth it! 8-10 different things????? Is he crazy? I wood say 3-5 are PLENTY. Trust me, after the bruschetta, no one will eat anything else!

I already converted it to as much as you will need:
Ingredients (Adjusted Scale: 2.5 x Original)

15 Tomatoes, diced
2 1/2 Red onion, finely chopped
15 Cloves Garlic (crushed)
2 1/2 Cups Balsamic vinegar
1 1/4 Cups Olive Oil
3 Bunches of fresh basil
ground black pepper to taste
Garlic salt to taste

Directions
Mix all ingredients together.
Serve on broiled, sliced baguettes that have been brushed with olive oil and garlic salt. (You'll need 5 loaves/baguettes from the bakery AND you can ask them to slice them for you.)

Hawaiian bread, hollow out the middle, tear into pieces (the middle, not the left over round) and set aside, mix with your hands, one pkg cream cheese, one bunch green onion tops chopped, one pkg frozen spinach (squeeze out the H2o), put into the bread round, place the torn bread around the round & watch out cuz' everyone loves this one! You can add some sour cream if the mix is too stiff for your liking.

Little smokies in BBQ sauce heated up together, put into a bowl with toothpicks handy...yummmmm!

Have fun & Happy New Year!

I just went to a party last night...they had tons of apps and desserts. The most popular appetizers were:

spanikopita (spinach/feta phyllo triangles) - you can buy these frozen and bake right before serving. They had some pita bread triangles and hummus on the side to dip...those were yummy.

bacon-wrapped anything. :) last night there was a plate of bacon-wrapped dates and they were absolutely gone in minutes. You could also do bacon-wrapped shrimp or chicken. tons of easy recipes online for those.

baby quiche - you can also buy frozen at pretty much any grocery store...bake them right before serving also. I think most people like those and they are easy to pick up and eat while talking.

have fun!

As simple as they are, pigs in a blanket always go fast - 1 pack of hot dogs, 3 packs of pillsbury biscuits will get you 64. I cut the hot dogs in half then each half into long quarters. Stretch out 1 biscuit and cut into thirds - wrap ariunf hot dog stick, stick toothpick thru it, onto Pam sprayed cookie sheet for about 10 minutes at 350. can be cooked before and put in bowl with foil over it - when ready to serve, just put in oven for 2 minutes to take the chill off.
I have done tons of finger foods with biscuits - in a mini muffin tray they come out really cute - canned chicken with salsa, shredded cheddar and a bit of cream cheese is really good. I have also done bacon and ranch with the canned chicken. Check the pillsbury website for more.
How about bruchetta? Tomatoes, garlic, balsamic and olive oil in bread skies grilled with olive oil and garlic rub. You can also add diced mozzarella to it too. Have fun tonite!

My friend introduced me to an awesome hot artichoke dip with Triscuit crackers. Chop up one can or artichoke hearts (drain off water). Add 1/2 cup mayo (I use reduced fat), add 1/2 cup grated mozz cheese, 1/4 cup grated parmaseano reggiano cheese, couple dashes hot sauce, and some black pepper. Mix it all together and add more mayo or cheese if you want. Bake at 375 covered for about 30 minutes and serve with Triscuit.

Easy and healthy
thin sliced crisp tart apples with skin on ( red or green)
thin slice of medium sharp cheddar cheese ( white or yellow)
Easy to do and display alternate every other

Hint do this a head. When cutting the apples put a small amount of lemon juice and water on the cutting board. This prevents the apples from turning brown. Store cheese and apples in separate containers arrange on plate when you get to the party.

This is always a hit!!
