I had a Mirena IUD put in about 2 1/2 weeks ago. A couple days ago my breasts started feeling tender. Now they are really tender and even my nipples are tender to the touch. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue. Also another question I have is, does anyone else have a problem finding their string. I checked it a about 4 days ago and had a hard time finding it and when I tried to check it today I couldn't feel it at all. Any advice or comments would be great!! Thanks in advance!!!

J.

I can't remember having any breast tenderness, but if I did, it went away. Maybe your doctor cut the strings too short? I wouldn't worry about it just yet. I was told to check for strings after each "period". It takes a while to settle into place. After your next few periods, it will settle into place and you'll eventually have little or no periods. Just hang in there! :) I've had mine for 1.5 yrs.

i have it and am 1 year away from getting a new one.. works like a dream.. you will have a time finding the string it gets twisted. sit on the toilet a look for it. yes since i have had it my breast feel tender and very heavy at times... also once you stop with your monthly about a year later you will have a spotting so dont freak it is natural..but you will not get pregnant and it is very rear for it to fall out and when i went back for my visit the doc had to search for it. it just gets twisted and is up there a little...

The Mirena has hormones in it so your body is probably reacting to the hormones. Breast tenderness like that is usually a spike in estrogen in your body.

Leave the thing alone before you dislodge it and have a real mess just give your body about another two to three weeks to stop thinking about it and you'll be fine....
You have too much on your plate to be obcessing about your IUD.
That's why you got an IUD isn't it to do it and forget it?
