Hey everyone, I know this is so anti-soccer mom, but we are in the 21st century! I was wondering if anyone has ever gotten or heard anything about getting a tattoo in Germany? I am thinking about getting a tattoo on my foot and thought it might be a fun experience to have it done over here. I want to make sure it is safe though!

What can I do next?

I got a tattoo back in 1991 in Mannheim and never have had a problem in fact the color still looks fresh. I also pierced my nose in the states and it got infected, so I let it heal and left alone until I got back to Germany. I got my nose re-pierced in Vilseck and it never got infected and have never had a problem and it is still open. Kind of scary to know that your own country can't do the job right.
I refuse to get any work done in the states!

Hi. My husband recently got a large phoenix/flames on his arm and it is very well done. Crazy Greg's is the place I think it's called. It's very popular in the Heidelberg area. I'm thinking of getting one done while I'm over here too, but I'm trying to wait until the exchange rate is a little better!

My husband has gotten 2 here and just make sure you have a actual drawing done (eve if by the artist) before you sit down to get it and you can't give blood for at least a year afterwards. Tattooing is pretty new here but not that bad.

I don't know where you are in Germany but I know some people have gotten them at the shop in Baumholder. If you are near here I can ask around more about it.

I myself have never got a tattoo. My friend however did last year. She went to the House of pain here in wurzburg. I know does not sound like a place you'd want to go to get something like that done. But I got a piercing at the same place. They are very clean and very friendly.

I got one done 15 months ago in Kaiserslautern. I went to Mechanical World. Andres is awesome. A friend of mine did reasearch in the area and found that this was the best place. (She has had 4+ tattoos done by him.) I only have one and I didn't have to get it retouched at all! It has a lot of color in it. Out of the 9 of us that have gone, only one could have used a touch up. Many of us have also gotten piercings there too. I recommend this shop to everyone. He speaks great English and knows what he is talking about. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your tattoo.

Hi! I have gotten a tattoo since being in Germany and I actually also got it done on my foot. I have also gotten tattoo's done in the states and I found the experience to be the same here. All of the equipment was sterile and the procedure was no different then it would be stateside. Just ask around and try and go to a place that someone you know has already used.
Good luck!!!

My huddy got one when we was here 5 years ago it has good color and I think it has better color then the ones you see that people have gotten in the states. The only thing is that place he got it isn't open any more he is trying to find wear he moved too. If you are at Ramstien we have hurd that the tatoo place that is not far from McDonalds isn't clean, just check the place out before you get one if you can talk to someone that has gone to the place you are going to. Don't forget to make they use clean needles

I've had 2 beautiful black/gray high detail tat's done at Happy Tat's in Daun, just north of Spangdahlem AB. I'm not sure which base you are at in Germany, but in this area both Phetch from Happy Tat's in Daun and Shorty in Speicer do amazing work. They both follow sterile field procedures like in the states and it's safe.

If you've never had a tat before the top of the foot is the most painful place on your body to get one. I had a friend that was covered in full sleeves and almost the whole back and she had a very hard time doing the tops of her feet because of the pain involved.

Good luck and enjoy your new art!
