We had a horrible time getting rid of this. I babysit & one child brought it in but another kept having eggs hatching under her arms every 2 weeks. I don't know if they weren't washing her bedding at home right or what, but don't play around about following the directions.

it is imperative that EVERYONE that has had contact with your daughter be treated AT THE SAME TIME and everyone must re-treat in a week to 10 days to get any new ones that have hatched BEFORE the itching starts. THe itching is from the allergic reaction NOT the bugs so people can carry them and have no symptoms. As with head lice, wash everything--clothes and bedding-- in hot water and hot dryer or bag in plastic for a few weeks(stuffed animals etc. I went through this nightmare for a year when my kids were little and until I went to a new dermatologist who got us on the right track we were unable to clear it up.The first derm said I had scabies phobia! THe second showed me where they were on my daughter and me and told us how to treat properly Good luck!

Well my daughters didn't have it but my sister whom is 46yrs old. got it. She is married and has a 8 yr. old son, and everyone had to use the prescription cream as well. When she found out she had it and what it actually was, she had already had it for about 3wks. After she received the medication for it, her's cleared up in about 3wks total. I do know that the more you scratch the more it spreads, and anywhere you scratch, that's where it spreads to. It varies on the time that it takes to clear up. It can take a few wks. or it can take months. It all depends on how quickly you contain it and keep it from spreading to other people while getting medication for it. I think it just all depends on the person and how much you irritate it. Also you want to change all your linens and vaccum completly in your house, and wash all laundry that could contain any of the scabies.

I just posted something similar about my son and it turns out he has scabies as well. We are getting ready to do the third round of cream and I have washed everything in sight but it just isn't clearing up very easily. I have spoken to his doctor several times about it and he just keeps telling us to redo the cream and that sometimes it's stubborn and needs several treatments. It's pretty frustrating and I hate seeing him scratch himself until he's bleeding. :( If you find success with anything in particular I would love to hear about it! Good luck, we're both going to need it!

I didn't face anybody personally who suffered with scabies, but my own and my both daughters' skin is highly sensitive to any thing which can cause itch and rashes. Thanks to your post I got concern about this and research on online to get more information. I want to keep myself aware in case something happen.

There are some websites I found, which will answer all of your questions. I found them very informative.

You had some already fantastic advice, but I just thought I'd chime in that we had them as kids (got them from a sleepover at our place) so you're not alone. I know my mom washed everything thoroughly to help get rid of them.

Best of luck!

My son's family just recently got over that problem. If you use the medication the doctor gives it will take about 2 weeks to totally clear up. Make sure all your linens and furniture gets washed and sprayed with RC Spray. That is to keep from reinfestation. Good Luck. L.

My son had them when he was about 1 1/2 yrs. He had it from his face to his toes. We took him to the Dr. and he gave us a prescription cream. We did the cream treatment twice on him and once on my husband and myself. Everybody at his daycare was also treated. No one else ever got it but him. After about 3 days I could tell it was getting better, but it took close to 2 weeks before all of the red dots were gone. The bugs die within a day or 2 of the treatment, but it takes longer for their skin to completely clear up. Don't feel bad about it. They can get it anywhere; from somebody coming close to them in Walmart. If you wash all of the bedding and blankets he has come in contact with and put all stuffed animals and pillows that can't be washed into a trash bag and close it tight for about a week you should be OK. I was so worried I wouldn't get rid of them, I almost rented a steam cleaner to get them out of the carpet. I didn't though, and it was fine. They have to have contact with skin to stay alive. Hope this helped.
