Any Ideas for a 6Yr Old Girl Birthday Party?

My baby girl is turning 6 March 18th! Last year I threw her a "princess party" at home, but this year, she wants to invite boys and girls. We don't have a Chucky Cheese close by, so does anyone have any good ideas for a birthday party I can have either close to home, or in my home? And if we have it in our home, what do we do?!
(We live in the Thornton area)

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for all the great responses, so much stuff that I couldn't think of at the time really gave me some great ideas for close to home parties, etc.
She is very excited to go with Gymnastics Unlimited for her bday party, they are close by and lots of fun the age group. I also got some other great ideas for the next bday's! Thanks so much!

Hi Shanda,
Haven't read the other responses, but we've been to a number of parties lately at the Pump It Up in Broomfield (off 287, just south of I-36). It has a bunch of bouncy castles, slides, air hockey, etc. and my 5-6 year olds love it (plus my 3 year old).

Have fun!

Boondocks is a great place to throw birthday parties. We have done it the last two years for my son who is now 5. Both times we invited boys and girls and it worked out great. They should be pretty close to if you live in Thornton.

If you are in Thornton, you might want to try Jump Street. They are in Thornton and offer birthday party packages. Find more info at: http://cincinnati.entertainment.com/discount/JumpStreet_F...

Other options--zoo, Science & History museum, Boondocks, etc...

Good luck!

My sister, who happens to be a party planner, has helped me plan my kids b-days for years.
A co-ed party can be as fun as an all girl/boy party..find a them she likes..if it is still princesses, then you can have a prince/princess party..if you want to have it at home. My son s turning 8 this year and is having a co-ed party. He chose a magic party. I found that the price of Madcap comedy club for their parties, is great bang for your buck. I am making him invites that actually let you "pull the rabbit from the hat".
Having a Chinese new year party is fun, there are lots of possibilities for mixing it up and making it fun for both boys and girls.
Hope this helps, have a great party!!

Hello

I have a daughter who is now 9 and I love birthday parties. I go all out every year, it is my down fall. However let me tell you a few of mine. Go bowling. They have a great package and it is so much fun you can do cosmic bowling and the kids love it. Also Heritage Square has a kids theater that is fun, the kids get to act out on stage with the actors and there is a ice cream shop up there were you can do ice cream and presents. Another fun one we did was at the gymnastics place. That is great and so much fun. Also one year we did the Puppet theater. They watch a puppet show and get to make their own puppets and finally Roller Skating. Or go to a indoor rec center like Apex and do swimming. That way you are protected from the weather and the kids always love to swim, they have slides and waves and lots of fun. These are just some parties we have had and they have all been hits. Good Luck.

How about a theme party where all the kids come dressed up as their favorite character? For instance, if she likes Toy Story or another Disney movie, have all of the kids work around this theme and come as one of the characters. For decorating ideas, you should try Party America.........they have murals that you can put up in a room to decorate with many different Disney themes. I have a son who will be 6 in May and this is something I'm hoping to do.

Just a thought........

Hi Shanda,

My girls are 9 and 8. We have had birthday parties at Skate City in Thornton and Pump it Up in Broomfield. For your daughter's age, I recommend Pump it Up. The rooms are private and they have staff to help watch the kids. You can have up to 25 kids plus parents.

Hi, Shanda!
I know of a gal in Lafayette who does face painting.
Her name is Leah Reddell and her email is ____@____.com

It might not be enough to base a whole home party around, but if you found some other activity that the kids could be doing while the face painting was going on...

Have fun!

If there is a Mcdonald with a planland close by I would suggest that. It works for boys and girls with my children in the past. Also they set up and clean up it is wonderful.

Try calling your local gymnastics class or rec center, or even YMCA. You can have a fun and active bday party that will suit both boys and girls. Close to you is Boon Docks too isn't there? Depending on how many kids I wouldn't have it at home. I learned early on that it lessens the stress big time if you don't have to worry about the mess! :)

Hi Shanda! I have three little boys and an 18 yr. old. I have some ideas for you! The kids love having parties at the gymnastic places. There is one called Highland Hills around 72nd and Lowell but I bet there is one closer to you. The gymnastic places will set up an obstacle course and they will play with a parachute with the kids and they ususally have a pit of big spongy blocks that the kids absolutely love to jump in. Also, we had a party at a Brunzwick Bowling alley and the kids loved that too! They were only just turning 5 but they could all do it. Call your local bowling alley and they will let you know what they can do and for how much. We also have gone to a parties at Pump-it-up! It's really expensive though. Also, my son Sam is turning 6 on this Friday the 7th and next week we are going to a place called Dog House Music. It's a recording studio is Lafayette and they let the kids paint card board "air" guitars, they have a young new aspiring band play a mini concert for the kids and they play the birthday child's favorite song and let the him get on stage with them. I am going tonight to see the studio and figure it all out with the owner. It will be $175 for his whole class to go. Then they will record all their voices and give me a cd with them on it. Sam loves music so he'll love this one. I can give you more ideas if you want... you can call me @ ###-###-####! Also, I saw all the different business' you have and I have another suggestion for you that could take the place financially of them all. I have lots of experience with them all! :) Oh, one last idea! Google - kids birthday parties in Thronton, Colorado or Denver Metro area and you'll see many more places to go! Good luck! I will be celbrating the 18th as well. It's my birthday too! :) Take care and call me if you would like! Warmly, K.

Shanda,

I, too, recommend Pump It Up in Broomfield. I had a birthday party for my son last year when he turned six. He had both boys and girls and it also worked great because many of our family/friends have children of all different ages and it was fun for everyone (even the adults had a great time jumping around, racing each other, etc). Your older children will have a great time, too. It was better priced than Jump Street. It's definitely a little more expensive than a McDonalds would I think it's worth it since EVERYONE is entertained.

What about a local Humane Society? They often set up cute parties, where the kids learn about the animals, and can even have some canine or feline party goers...
