I am trying to find some fun ideas for a boy's 7th birthday - I am in the Arvada area and would like to do something fun but not too expensive...we don't want to do the Chucky Cheese/Fat City kind of thing...any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!! Also...its in early January so its probably gonna have to be inside! Thanks for all your wonderful ideas!!

We've done the swimming party quite successfully, but by age 7, laserquest was more popular. My son choose Jungle Quest = it's a place with ziplines, a climbing wall and ropebridge. We did that for ages 6 and 7, and laserquest for 8 and 9. Another fun choice for boys is Jump Street - a huge arena full of trampolines!

take care, S.

Whatever happened to the good 'ol days of hiring a limo to take the boys to a movie or the batting cages? Have we devolved to just having parties at the Aquarium and the Zoo? :-)

Whats DS favorite activity? Build a party around what he enjoys the most. If its soccer than maybe a game with the Rapids? They have family nights. And google party ideas around that activity, its how I came up with all the fun activities for the fairy party my DD wanted....

For my son's who turned four over the summer, I let him pick three friends and we did the Aquarium. It was fun, not that crazy expensive and we came back and had lunch and cake at the house when it was over. The boys LOVED going to the aquarium, we had a light lunch of sandwiches and cake and then the moms picked them up from my house. They were all tuckered out and it was a fun day! :)

Something like the movies and a nice lunch out with two buddies is good too, bowling even. If you have him narrow it down to a few friends and let him know he can do more with less friends that may work. I know for my kids who have Bdays close together I have them pick a few friends and do something special and bigger then a big party blow out and it running out the nose in costs.

my son just got to invite as many friends as his age (ie he turned 7 so he got to invite 7--most times that means there's 2 less than what he invites) we just went to the Golden Rec Center. I didn't even rent their "party room" but I brought a small pizza, made a cake and brought juice. We ate and opened presents first and then went swimming. Golden is onlly $4/child, $6/adult. we swam a couple of hours and went home from there. I know having a winter birthday is hard Good luck.

Wow...sounds like my son who turns 7 this January. Good for you planning ahead...by the time my son's bday come around, I am too tired (and broke! :) from the holidays to do much!!

I like the movie and lunch idea...he can invite a friend or two and they would feel like big kids! Or if you go out for a family dinner, he could invite a friend. Last year, my son invited a couple of friends and we took them to the movies. Then they came here for pizza and cake. It was pretty affordable.

I know the YMCA has swimming bday parties if you are a member, Hyland Hills gymnastic center has affordable gymnastic type parties.

Good Luck!

Hi C.

Why not doing swimming at the Apex center? The kids love it or you could do iceskating instead. The kids seem to love that and it is a great price and close.

My son's birthday is also during the winter so his party always has to be indoors. Last year we had a swim part at Apex in Arvada. It is fun for kids his age and for younger ones because of the playground in the swimming area. Or there is Westminster Rec center which is a bit cheaper than the Apex. One more idea my nephew just had a birthday party at some batting cages off of 60th and Sheridan. Hope this helps.
