Anti-snoring Pillows

I should have classified this request under the "mental health" section, because I am going to need some serious psychiatric help if I have to lie awake listening to my husband snore for much longer.

I have been looking into the pillows that promise a snore-free night and would be willing to pay just about anything for one that actually works. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which anti-snore pillow is the best? Or other snore remedies? I feel bad, but have been sleeping in the spare bedroom lately to get some rest. I can still hear him down the hall, but at least I can tune it out in a different room.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

My husband went to the Dr. about his snoring, he was not diagnosed with apnea but that didnt help me sleep at night. They had told him to get a mouth guard. His problem was that his jaw would fall back into this throat (sounds weird I know) but that guard is supposed to help keep his jaw where it is supposed to be. I was trying to find the name of it.. He never got it, thanks a lot hubby.

I found this website, it has a lot of ideas good luck.. I wish you a full night sleep someday soon..

Sounds like my husband. I had him go to the Dr. and he sent him for a sleeping study. He has sleep apnea and now uses a CPAP machine at night. He is now much more lively during the day due to his getting a better night sleep too. My insurancedid pay for everything.M. in Wisconsin

ditto to Maria...i lived with a snorer for almost 7 years before he was diagnosed with sleep apnea. now, he sleeps very quiet and i can sleep in the same bed. i too was sleeping a lot on the couch and using ear plugs everynight. i hope he will at least investigate the idea. our insurance paid for it too...small out of pocket expense.

My husband used to snore terribly, so much that I kicked him out of our bed about half the time. And then he decided to get healthier and lost about 20 pounds--not a ton of weight, but since losing the weight he NO LONGER snores!! It's fabulous, let me tell you.

You need psychiatric help .. that's funny. Well actually I can understand what it is to not be able to sleep well night after night that as I had a roommate who snored a LOT and she was a girl! I had to call her name from across the room everytime and she would roll-over and the snoring would stop for sometime.I ended up changing rooms because of her.
My husband snores too but not as much. One thing that works in my experience is NOT letting snorers sleep on their back. Also, as others have recommended try the nasal strips.I dont know abt anti-snoring pillows though.

R., I sooo feel your pain! It was awful in my house, too. No sleep from babies, coupled with even less sleep because of my husband's snoring. I begged him for years to do a sleep study to see if he had sleep apnea. Finally, about 2 months before we had our 2nd child, he went. The overnight study was done at Methodist hospital. He was diagnosed with SEVERE sleep apnea. It was a real wake up call for him. Apnea can put a person at increased risk for strokes and other health issues, not to mention that he never felt rested. He now has a CPAP and it's been a Godsend. I sleep better, he never snores and he sleeps better. It's not the most glamorous apparatus and he doesn't really like wearing it, but he also feels like he can't live without it. He takes it everywhere even if he's only going to be out of town for one night.

Good luck!

I feel your pain!
I sent DH to the Dr. They did a sleep study to see if he had sleep apnea - sure enough. Now he wears a special mouth guard from the dentist and we both sleep well with no snoring!

I don't have any advice about pillows, but I have two other suggestions -
First, is invest in a white-noise machine that you can play when you are sleeping (either in the spare room or in your own room). It will help drown out and mask some of the snoring.
The second is to have him go to the doctor. Snoring can be a sign of several serious medical conditions, in addition to causing tension in your marriage and affecting your health by keeping you awake!
My dad actually had surgery to reduce his snoring - and it did wonders. After years of having to sleep on the couch in the basement to avoid keeping the rest of us awake, he and my mom have slept in the same room since 2 days post surgery (20 years ago).

Hang in there and good luck!

I would highly recommend that he be checked for sleep apnea. My husband has sleep apnea and has a CPap mask, and he does not snore any more. I got tested too, and lo and behold, I have sleep apnea too! The CPap machine blows air into the nose and keeps the throat open enough that you don't snore. Recently my 23 year old (skinny) son-in-law was diagnosed with sleep apnea and besides the CPap, he also had an operation. He had the start of high blood pressure and has been having chest pains, so I hope the CPap thing works for him. I went without my CPap one night and I was so groggy the next day, I kept falling asleep. It's not glamorus, but boy does it help.

I don't have an answer but would be curious if anyone else does. My guy snores in my ear even though I love the cuddle time it does keep me awake at times and since I know that I snore (sleep apnea)and I work so many hours that when I do fall down I know that I snore because I'm so tired even though he never complains. I'd also like to find something so we don't keep each other awake.
Thanks ladies for any help you can give me and R..

Snore Guard (looks like a double retainer that slides the lower jaw forward a few millimeters when in place) from the Dentist! Highly recommend it. I was in your same situation and now we sleep quietly together. The curved pillow didn't work for us.

Not sure about the anti-snoring pillows, but I wanted to stress that he should go in for a sleep study. A lot of people mentioned that with a CPAP machine they have stopped snoring. What they haven't mentioned is that undiagnosed and untreated sleep apnea can lead to high blood pressure and heart problems. I know!! The right side of my heart is enlarged partially due to sleep apnea.
He might not have sleep apnea and need a CPAP machine but better to be safe than sorry.
My friends husband sleeps on a wedge at the head of the bed, this has helped him stop snoring. He did a sleep study and this is what his doctor recommended.
Good luck and keep hounding about getting a sleep study done.
