I tried everything with my son - stickers, picking out a potty, cherrio targets.....the only thing that wokred was teenage mutant ninja turtle underwear! He didn't want to pee on the Turtles! He is 16 now and hates me telling that story <grin>. Maybe letting him pick out some character undies and the chair will help.

No wonder you are tired!! I went through the same thing with my daughter. It will all be much easier in a year. Just keep staying positive about the potty training, always happy happy happy. Even when she pooped on the floor, I never got negative, because I didn't want to make it a power struggle. I read a book about the potty every night for months in a very subtle way, and I had a little potty in the living room to try to encourage her...My experience with both kids is that once they get around an older child who is potty trained, daily, then they get trained quickly. Keep on keepin on Mama!!! You're doing a great job. Keep telling yourself that. When I look back on the potty training days, the smells and time spent scrubbing carpet are dim compared to my images of them learning to talk, etc.

I am also potty training my almost three year old. At first I tried the pull-ups, but it was confusing for her, so I moved straight into the "Big girl panties". She has had only two accidents since. Also, if possible, I would recommend using the bathroom with the door open. It helps them not feel so afraid of the toilet. It may be a little uncomfortable at first, but it really does help.

I also suggest letting him pick out a potty seat with a character on it and buy him a step stool and try to make it fun for him.My aunts youngest child did this also but I dont remember them ever trying to punish him or redirect him elsewhere. They just let him be and cleaned up after him until he eventually went to the potty. I would def. not reccommend doing this.Since punishing isnt really the ideal way of making him go to the potty, even though sometimes is takes a little punishment to motivate them to stop doing things like going on the floor to get them to stop...I suggest after he does go on the floor u make him sit on the potty for about 30 mins...and use that time, each time to explain to him that it is nasty and that the potty is the place for pee and poopy. Also, I read about something they have now that is like a thin sheet of flushable paper that had designs on it that incourage the child to pee on the target in the potty. So if u can make it like a game to go pee on this little fun target in the bathroom and if u can get him to go pee that way u can do the same with poopy.Gl

One of the ways that I sort of coerced my children into potty training was taking them to the store and letting them pick out their own potty. It created interest for them. Then I stopped using pull-ups and would take them to the bathroom after about 30 minutes of drinking. We would sit for a few and then try again. I also didn't use Pull-ups during this time. I used training pants that are like cloth diapers.
